I just decided to check out IMDB message boards, and Im on the Blow one.. I just read this;
"George is or will be 62 this year. I read an article that said he will be 72 when released in 2015. Pretty crazy, in the movie it says he was sentened to 60 years in Otisville, but it doesn't mention that fact that he decided to rat our "Diego", who was actually someone named Carlos, so that he could get out of prison early. He then had a few clean jobs, before dealing in marijuana in Mexico. He got caught in 1994 with a couple of ounces on him, and was sentenced to his most recent term, which will release him in 2015. Crazy stuff though. Can you imagine making $100 million?" it was posted by 'mrbenf'
So evidently, he got off, then got caught again in 1994, getting put back into prison until 2015, which was when he was to get out during his 60 year term. And he isnt as old as we thought.

I feel bad for the real George Jung. I think he deserves to be in jail, but not for that long. I know he must have gotten a lot of people addicted to drugs, but it's not like he forced people to buy them and if they didn't get the drugs from George, they just would've got it from someone else. I don't think he's a bad guy and I feel really bad for him.

I do feel bad for him, but then, I don't at the same time. I mean, he knew what could happen if he ever got caught doing what he did. He's intelligent, and was fully aware of the consequences. Then again, it is sad he would do that for money. You can almost say it's desperate.
I was trying to follow the numbers up there - How many years does he have to serve now?

He will be released on November 27, 2014 according to his website. He'll be 72. But I read somewhere else that after he's released, he has to do 8 years of parole.

Source: Blow: An American Epidemic, The Story Behind the Movies Chapter 10Okay, according to this article, George testified against Carlos Lehder (Diego Delgado) and walked away from the 60 year sentence.But apparently he got caught again in 1994, for smuggling again. He is currently serving that sentence and will be released in 2014 and he'll be 72.Well that makes a lot of sense. Whenever I watched the movie I always got confused. If he was currently serving the 60 year sentence and would get released in 2014 at age 72 than that would mean he got caught when he was 12! That didn't make sense either because in the movie he was in his forties when he got caught. I knew he testified against Carlos, but I didn't know he got to walk away from his sentence. I can't believe after all that though he got caught smuggling again! I'm still kinda confused about all this though. In the movie, I thought it ended with him serving the sixty year sentence.

Lua, if I remember right, there is a deleted scene with him in court with the whole carlos thing.
and plus, movies (even if they are based on true stories) never tell the whole truth.
haha I just read the thing of your confusion over the sixty year sentence making him twelve when he was caught...yeah I don't know.. I feel like watching Blow now though.
So Im considering writing him a letter...but yeah I think that would be slightly weird as well. I dont know, I just feel really bad for him.

I don't have the DVD (I know, it's really sad especially since I'm training to be the Angel of George and Blow) so I didn't see any deleted scenes. I feel like watching Blow now too! I haven't seen it in a while. Lol I considered writing him a letter too, but I have no clue what to say.
