This soundtrack has to be one of the best I have ever heard. ..so evocative. I reckon you could even close your eyes & it would conjure up so many images although none better than Johnny who really looks his best here even if the film is a bit difficult.

Yes I have to agree with you there this is soo as you rightly said "evocative" the soundtrack creates so many images and maybe not even of the film. Even if you havent seen the film it can provoke ideas about almost anything. And phew does he look good!

Anyone know what comes first? Casting or soundtrack? Just occurred to me that as a talented (what else) musucian Johnny may also consider a film based on the soundtrack as otherwise how come so many of his films have such amazing soundtracks? At least the earlier ones.

I think its casting but i imagine it depends on the film and people working on production.

I'm pretty sure they line up their score-ist (brainfart. Can't remember the word I want. Wait, it's composer. Now I feel really stupid. ) at the same time they do casting, but none of the actual scoring can really take place until after the movie is edited. I mean, major themes can be written and all, but whoever actually plays the score - whether it be one man or a symphony - watches the finished product as they lay down their tracks. You can see some of that happening on the LotR extras. And I understand that's how it's done always, but I suppose I could be wrong. As for my opinion of the soundtrack, it was very...stark. It's not one I'd pop into my CD player to chill to or anything, but I think it was pretty much perfect for the film, seeing as how Dead Man is a stark story. Pretty bare bones, really. They didn't even use Technicolor. There's something to be said for power chords on an electric guitar.
