I got worn out from hours of tiny little layers. Never fear, I'll tackle the dress someday. Assuming I save the PDF and all. Pics from the magazine: The coverPage 18Page 45

I like big updates all in one go. I haven't exactly stopped being vexelly, I just never remember to update. Hands of Blue - Yes, this is actually Hugo Weaving and Sam Rockwell in spiffy suits and blue gloves (for a Firefly story I was writing). I was experimenting in a new style that I quite liked for a good long while. Super Wilson - Robert Sean Leonard's character from House MD as a superhero. In the show, he likes to stand with his hands on his hips a lot and it looks like he's a superhero. Dean Winchester - Blame Fiend for this one, she commissioned this before I started liking Supernatural. I'm a Sam fangirl anyway. An experiment in Illustrator (which I now have, yay!) and film noir. David Tennant head - It was going to be David Tennant (Doctor Who) in a really ugly shirt, but in the end, the shirt defeated me. So this is just an attempt at line art and actual hair. Sam Winchester - Mmmm Sam Winchester. This one I did after I started liking Supernatural. I wanted to try a comic/Frank Miller style and failed at it, but I don't mind. I kind of like what happened with this one. Palm Tree Christmas - The last in my dabbling with gradient landscapes (for the moment anyway.) This also made it into my school's magazine last spring, but I neglected pictures this time. This one isn't a finished product (I sadly don't think it ever will be either), but I tried to make a vector off a painting of Tsar Nicholas II. I got most of it, but in the end, the brocade pretty much defeated me. It was about 100 layers for every little dinky gold bit! So instead, I've got closeups to show the detail and work that went into it. I think by the time I stopped it had about 1300 layers in it. Plain, no detailFace (I'm obscenely proud of the ear) BootsTorso

Yes, do blame me for all things Supernatural. I don't mind. ;D These are absolutely lovely, Arenas! Which just means I should commission another one. ;D -Fiend

Hello Agent Arenas! Those are all gorgeous How exactly did you first get inspired to do vectoring? I see it is not all too popular on JA, did you pick it up at LJ or another forum or just experimenting? Lovely work by the way!!

Don't worry, I do blame you, Fiend, but you can always learn to do it yourself... Thank you and welcome, wrongdoor! WD? Door? Heh, sorry. I think I got inspired after seeing vector/vexels and realizing that it was just the coolest, prettiest art style in the world, especially after browsing sites like Vexels.net, or the section at DeviantArt. I started doing it myself after looking at a car tutorial and applying it to people. Then I realized it can be pretty relaxing if you don't take it seriously and it just kind of went from there. Really shiny questions, amiga! Best of luck with the 100 posts, by the way, not long now. New Editions: Metallicar! - My first time using the gradient mesh tool on Illustrator and holy crap is it hard. Well...it's hard if you don't know what you're doing (which I didn't) and I'm now getting the hang of it, even if the headlights don't fit right. Mirrors and bumper didn't come out bad though. (The grill was just regular gradients, but I'm proud of that too.) Flame border - Hotrod flames! For my new livejournal layout (which won't cooperate. This and the Metallicar and the TARDIS.

Mmm, double posting? Me? Have some pica-churs in return. Audi Quattro. Because they're awesome. First proper attempt at a car with gradients. James May and Richard Hammond They look a lot better when shrunk. I'd forgotten how to vector human beings, but the jumper's rather nice if I do say so myself. He's called the Stig. Some say his tears are adhesive, and that all his potted plants are called Steve. All we know is...
