I am in support of the writers too. Don't get me wrong, I am tired of waiting for programmes that have been suspended because there are no more episodes being written, I don't like the fact that films are being delayed or that the Golden Globes has been cancelled but I presume they tried reasonable avenues of negotiation before striking.
I don't think the writer's are being any greedier than the actors or the directors or the producers. Times move on, and their pay should reflect the contribution they make. What better way to highlight that contribution than by removing it completely?
I hope they do manage to resolve the dispute before the Oscars. It would be a shame to miss out on them too.

I can see your points of view Arenas and Jay. I just think it's silly that we won't get too see the GG and tv shows because of 6 cents. If they're going on strike you'd think they'd at least ask for more money.
Actually, I thought the writers made a lot of money. I didn't know they only got .3% of sales. Jay I think you're right too, the writer's probably aren't being any greedier than the actors, directors or the producers.
At the same time though, I think it's a lot of commotion over 6 cents. I hope this gets settled before the Oscars too, it's bad enough not getting to see the GG Awards.

I also see your guys' points. I can't say that I mind watching reruns, because there are some episodes of my favourite shows that I've missed, so it's a nice way to catch up..but cancelling the GG really angers me.

6 cents may not seem like a lot, but I bet it sure adds up in the long run. I'm making due without my shows but I really wanted to see the GG. -Fiend

I totally agree with the writers. I think a lot of the writers here would agree with the writers. I mean, a lot of time and effort and sweat and blood and heart go into the stories that these people write under conditions that are way more demanding than anything we've ever faced. Sometimes they only have a week to get a final script completed for filming, and they do it well. I think they reserve the deserve the respect of having negotiations recommence.

They're still advertising the Golden Globes on television. Perhaps some networks haven't gotten the message? -Fiend
