Johnny Depp finally won his first Golden Globe! After eight, count 'em, eight nominations, he finally won Best Actort in a Musical or Comedy for Sweeney Todd! Tim Burton was nominated for Best Director and Helena Bonham Carter was nominated for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy, but both lost. Sweeney Todd also won best Musical or Comedy, also. Congrats Johnny!!! You deserved it! I only wish that we could have seen his reaction and acceptance speech!(For any who didn't know, the Golden Globes ceremony was cancelled because of the Writer's strike, but was replaced by an hour long press conference where the winners were releaved. No nominess/winner/red carpet/etc, though)

This makes me very glad, except it would have much more AWESOME if the Golden Globes weren't ruined by the strike. Ah, well. The important thing is that he won an award he deserved as did Sweeney Todd.

I am not caught up in the news, I see there is a thread that the show was canceled, so how did he still win the award ? That is very true, I am sure he is happy not to have had to make a speech, but I think with a Tim Burton film, his admiration for the collaboration would have just spilled and his true thankfulness to his fans. He is a very generous and sincere man. Very modest too !
