Hm yeah so I definitely had to look away when they started to cut Sonny Reds leg off... I am wee bit squeamish and watching that sure did things to my stomach. Whew! It certainly was memorable... Definitely added to the film though.

I'm not a big fan of gangster movies - DB is the only one I've managed to sit all the way through - but the psychology of it all is rather interesting. I love sitting there and wondering what is it about the interpersonal dynamics that can allow men to go to the lengths they do (like cutting off the leg, and beating up that poor waiter), and Db had the extra incentive of not only the gangster psychology, but the whole struggle of a man doing something he's not proud of to survive, and still being drawn into this world that makes him do things he later feels bad for.

I actually don't mind the violence, it's reality in a mob setting, and I know why they cut off his legs... so.... lol.
I LOVE DONNNIE BRASCO.... (go figure my name before angelhood was DonnieB4Me)

Yeah, I know WHY they cut them off, I just wish they could have not...well...been so graphic LOL. But oh well its mob reality and I can always turn away at that part. Maybe someday I will be able to watch it without cringing, who knows? ;D

Well becoming immune to it isn't the best thing... But I must say after watching it at least once a week for the past 5 years of my life.... It didn't bother me the first time I saw it.... and still doesn't...

Graphic? GRAPHIC!? LOL! You guys really think that was graphic? All you saw was Donnie cutting through the first layer of the red boot, then you heard the noise of him obviously sawing the boot, then he gagged... then that scene finished. LOL I think that was nothing. I got a kick out of it.

Haha.... though this was my first mafia movie, I really love graphic stuff. Like angevin said, this really didn't phase me too much. Some of my favorite movies include Saw, Battle Royale (where all these teens are put on an island with one weapon and have to kill each other in 3 days or they'll all blow up), and so on. Also, am I the only one that finds it ironic that it was HoHo who started this topic? Being Ichabod's angel, and all.

Donnie Brasco isn't my favorite, but MY GOD I am obsessed with mafia movies. They are the best. I love The Godfather and Goodfellas...they are sssssooo good. Pacino in the Godfather, wowww.
I felt really bad for Lefty in the movie. I almost cried at the end.
