See that quote is a good one, but the article I got it from was title 'King should have kept this Secret' and it went on and on about how predictable the movie was but that they LOVED Johnny...oh well we loved it, that's all that matters!

I don't listen to critics anymore. They bash some of my favorite movies (like Secret Window) and they praise movies that I despise! Who are they to tell me what to like and not like? I absolutely LOVE this movie. I just watched it again today. I love Mort's dry humor and sarcasm. "You're great man, Mort." "You too, Ms. Garvey." And I for one, did not predict this movie. The ending surprised me. So to the critics!

The ending surprised me only because I was waiting with anticipation to see Mort DIE!! But I still enjoyed it. Especially the slow fade-in at the beginning.

AHHH!!!Okay, okay, breath. All right. The best thing. Never noticed it before... In the beginning of Secret Window when Mort first reads Shooter's manuscript and discovers that the two stories are practically identical, he goes and gets a copy of his book, "Everybody Drops the Dime" just to be sure. Right? Well, when Mort reaches up to get that book from his shelf, you can see all the other books he's got there too. Now, I was curious as to if Mort's shelf was full of his own works or other authors', and so I paused and read a few of the titles. And guess what book was there on the left-hand side of the screen? The Rum Diary. Hunter S. Thompson. Sideways, of course, but still there in plain view for all to see. That. Is. Great. An excellent fanfiction tidbit, if you ask me. Who knew that the fictional character Morton Rainey was a Hunter S. Thompson fan? And that the man who plays Mort Rainey has also played Hunter S. Thompson and plans to again in the near future? I thought it was a great coincidence, anyway. ;D ;D ;D

ooooh haha! When I first started reading that I could've sworn you were gonna say that Four Past Midnight was on his shelf lol. But really that's cool! My fascination with Mort is really starting to grow yet again...I was once obsessed with him as much as I am now with SJ...but yeah I think Mort's making his way back to the top. I need to watch the movie again...next time I have the time...*sigh* no time is no fun

Just watched SW the other night, my husband shocked the heck out of me by suddenly saying, let's watch it! So we did and I was blown away. Naturally, there was less suspense this second time, but I noticed so many details and appreciated the humor all the more. The bits with the dog were brilliant. But I think his hair stole the show for me this time. Wow, that wonderful bleachy bedhead in the first scene when Shooter comes to the door and wakes Mort up! Only Johnny could make that look sexy.

The "Come-Hither-Bedhead-Via-Blender" look? I adored it.

No. I'm just about certain that he didn't kill Mrs. G. I know the place looks really kinda clean up until Amy arrives . . . but then Mort saw Shooter until then too. I think that we see a lot of the movie through Mort's eyes, and then once Amy shows up, we see what everything really looks like. Exactly. Actually if you watch the extras on the DVD.. it tells you that you're actually watching the whole movie up to that point through the MIRROR.. where everything looks perfect and clean, but in reality its really all torn up.

I love this movie! Poor Mort, I felt so bad for him. The poor guy caught his wife redhanded cheating on him. Living with schizophrenia musn't be a whole lot of fun either. Can you imagine how he must've felt afterwards when he found out that Shooter was all in his head and he killed all those people? Shooter was so evil! I don't exactly hate him though. Ted smeeped me off during that whole movie! He loved to provoke Mort. He was such a dirtbag. Grr!
