[back from holiday ready to pick up the thread, dear Nuttykins ;D I see we have another guest!]
Warm, sticky chocolate rain was still falling down over them but it hardly mattered. Jay, John and Starfire were covered from head to foot in the very stuff they were supposed to be eating. For a moment they all sat in rigid disbelief then, very slowly, Starfire wiped the chocolate from her eyes and put a finger in her mouth to taste it.
"Delicious," she said faintly.
Willy and Nutty both broke into a delighted applause, for their own genius or their guest's reaction not one of them could tell.
Jay and John looked at each other taking in one another's newly decorated appearance.
"Suits you," said John. Jay had nothing to fire back, the whole day had spiralled so far out of control that she was still reeling.
Starfire, meanwhile, had recovered sufficiently to begin helping herself to a selection of the delicious looking morsels in front of her which looked all the better now they were all coated with Wonka chocolate. It did not take long for her evident enjoyment of said sweets to filter through to Jay who reached forward for a cookie. She handed it to John.
"Maybe that'll keep you quiet," she said. John accepted it with a smile.
"Maybe."
A good lot of eating and merriment began and continued until all those around the table were more full than they had ever been before in their lives, it took a powerful restraint for Jay to resist licking the chocolate out of her hair. Willy and Nutty were both looking very satisfied with the way their unique brunch had turned out, and Starfire was certainly very pleased that she had chosen to visit the factory when she did. It wasn't every day you got to see an octopus explode.
Finally, the time came for the inevitable goodbyes. Starfire went first, thanking Nutty with a hug and Willy with a brief handshake.
"Lovely to see you too," Starfire said to Jay and the Earl. John earned himself some major brownie points by kissing her hand. Jay would have rolled her eyes had it not been for the beautiful smile that lit up Starfire's face. She waved a last farewell to them all before flying off back to her dorm.
"Thanks for coming," said Nutty ringing John's hand so hard that it looked like it was about to come off, "Really, thank you. It was lovely, just lovely!"
As John wrenched his hand free, Jay approached the wary master chocolatier.
"Right. Well...." Willy clearly was as keen on goodbyes as Jay was.
"You'll have to come and have a meal with us sometime," Jay said, "It's only right that we return the favour."
"What?!" hissed John sharply but when he turned back to Nutty his smile was beautific.
"Of course," he said, "We'd love to have you."
"Excellent!" said Nutty, "We'll have to check the diary, won't we Willy?" Willy was shaking his head but Nutty, with enough enthusiasm for both of them, simply ignored him.
"How are you getting home?" she asked, "Would you like to take the elevator?"
"No," said Jay quickly, "I think after all that chocolate what we really need is a walk." And, before Nutty or Willy could come up with another method of transportation, Jay slipped her arm through the Earl's and they began the long walk home. So ended the first Nutty/Jay brunch but they both knew that after creating such spectacular memories it wouldn't be the last.
[How was that? Thanks Brunch-Buddy Nutty ;D]
