The Character Thread! Pretty self explanitory, what are your favorite characters from movies? Just state the name of the character, actor/actress, the movie they're in, and WHY! No Johnny characters of course, 'cause we have seperate boards for all of them! So, here are mine! Harper Pitt; Angels In America (Mary-Louise Parker) Harper is a wife to a man who she later finds out is homosexual. She's also addicted to Vallium, so she has dilusions. She has this kind of drawl in her voice, and this insane look about her. She also cracks me up, she has a lot of funny quotes. I love the way she interacts with other people. Harper is probably my favorite girl character from any movie, ever. Satine; Moulin Rouge! (Nicole Kidman) Satine is a courtesan, who's home is the Moulin Rouge night club in Paris. She is very dramatic, and has always wanted to become a real on stage actress. All her expirence with men makes it very easy for her to make them believe what they want to believe. She has to hide her secret love affair, and pretend to love another man in order to save the Moulin Rouge. Satine is Nicole Kidman's best preformance ever in my opinion, and she is absolutely magnificent. Clementine; Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (Kate Winslet) Clementine is an amazingly well developed character. She speaks whatever is on her mind, and has a completely free spirit. She falls in love with a man who is completely the opposite of her, and changes his life. Amazing preformance by Kate Winslet. Michael Corleone; The Godfather Trilogy (Al Pacino) It is amazing how much Michael changes by the end of each movie. He goes through such a transformation, as major as Frodo from Lord of the Rings. The awesome thing about Michael though, is that his change is much more subtle than Frodo's. And you don't really realize it until the ending, and your shocked. And he's extremely goodlooking. Heehee. But that's beside the point. Kronk; The Emperor's New Groove (Patrick Warburton)I love Kronk. I always have. He absolutely cracks me up. He's almost a typical bodygaurd: big, strong, and not the brightest crayon in the box. However, Kronk does have a lot of knowledge when it comes to things not related to his job. Such as cooking, and rare birds, for example. ;D Heh. Yeah, okay. So I have a lot.

Janice from Mean Girls (Lindsey Lohan's cool artsy friend) is my movie gal hero!! She's artsy, tough, accepting, and hilarious..... completely kick-arse! ;D

The whole cast of Moulin Rouge -I can't just pick one...they were all too brilliant ;D How come when you try and think of movies or your favourite characters they just vanish from your head? How very irritating. Ada; Cold Mountain (Nicole Kidman) Left to fend for herself while the nation is at war Ada has to learn to forget her town ways quickly in order to survive. I love Nicole Kidman and I thought she was wonderful in this role particularly as I had never seen her do anything like this before. She managed to portray frailty and inner strength at the same time which, after reading the book, was very true to the character. One complaint, she is way too thin! Eat something Nicole, you're wasting away! Evelyn O'Connell; the Mummy Returns (Rachel Weisz) An odd choice maybe but I think Rachel Weisz is stunning and from the performances I've seen she's a really good actress too. She basically just does the whole action adventure thing in this movie and acts as one half of the romance. She made me laugh, and she even made me cry a little when I first watched the film (yep, I know, I cried...but I cry in every film... ) Seth; City of Angels (Nicholas Cage) This movie just captured my imagination. I really loved it but I can't watch it too often because it just makes me every single time. Now I don't rate Nicholas Cage that highly as an actor but I think for this his woodeness worked because his angel character was somewhat detached from human emotions. I can't think of any more at the moment...I might get back to you ;D

Jimmy Smith JR./B. Rabbit in 8 Mile [Eminem/Marshall Mathers] I love this character not only because its played by Eminem *wink wink* but because he is such an inspirational character. He won't give up even after he 'choked' on stage in front of everyone, he gets made fun of by one of the biggest crews in battles, and gets put down by his own mother. I felt I could relate because I get put down alot, but I don't want to give up and make it look like I'm saying they're right, I want to prove them wrong. So this character was like a big motivation to me, especially since he was created from the mind of Eminem himself ;D

Sirius Black (Gary Oldman)
Sirius is my favorite character from any non- Johnny books or movies! I just love him more than life itself... Padfoot, Snuffles, Harry's godfather the escaped lunatic from Azkaban, I don't care what title he goes by. He's my favorite of favorites of all non-Johnny stuff.
I just think he's so lovable and has so many like hidden stuff. And I pity him for being in Azkaban for 12 years, and for having a family who hated him. I also think it's cool that his animagus is a dog, cuz I've wanted a dog all my life!
Oh, yes, and...
HAVE SIRIUS FAITH!

Ha! Kronk from the Emperor's New Groove is a big one. Aaaand Legolas, of course, from LOTR *swoon*... and I'll motify and add more as they come to me. Ever heard of a innocent little thief called Verbal Kint? Played by Kevin Spacey, Verbal made The Usual Suspects a hit. Man, Kevin Spacey rocks.

The thread lives!! ;D Sure, they can count Roxie! Hmm, my favorite characters.... Hannibel Lector from Silence of the Lambs. Insanely brilliant and sophisticated, as well as a mad cannibel. He's so freaking awesome. Plus his name rhymes! He's such a complex character... wow. Jay and Silent Bob from all of Kevin Smith's movies (Dogma and Chasing Amy are the one's I've seen) are HILARIOUS! Kevin Smith plays Silent Bob, and some guy named Jason plays Jay. They are so crude and crazy and add a special something to all of those movies. Christian and Satine from Moulin Rouge... such a romantic pair! Amazing movie with beautiful love scenes. Frank N. Furter from Rocky Horror... sexiest transvestite eveerrr. The Phantom from Phantom of the Opera.... sooo awesome! Sexy, amazing singer, brilliant, romantic, misunderstood... I love him. Lisa from Girl, Innterupted. I love Angelina Jolie, and she did an amazing job. Lisa was so compelling.. evil... but really needed help. She was really cool. Donnie Darko in Donnie Darko. He is misunderstood, has issues, and is really cute. I love him. This could go on for awhile, hehe, so I'll stop here.
