The Bliss album will be celebrating its 5th Anniversary on 17 October!
The Bliss Booklet
Front Picture
“…my beloved who took the photograph and altered it on the computer. Me, I made the simple little drawings inside. They don't have a great deal of meaning. It's just to make the album seem homemade.” Vanessa, Paris Match 2001.
The booklet begins with Johnny’s photo of Vanessa, which has been altered to distance Vanessa from her usual glamour shots:
“This one is very honest, it shows me as I am…The fuzzy effect gives the feeling my dreams are engraved in it.” Vanessa, Construire, March 2001.
Thank Yous... translated from the final page of the Bliss Booklet

Johnny's Contributions to "Bliss"
"[Johnny was there], but always in the shadow, to back me up, to push me to give my best, it is what I found wonderful. There wouldn’t have been any album without him. I composed more with the guitar than with the piano. He is the one who taught me how to play, in fact. When I told him that I wouldn’t make it, that my songs weren’t good, he encouraged me. The strength of this album, it is him! The love, the trust, the friendship.
(Vanessa on Johnny’s contribution to Bliss from Chorus, 2000) "
"When Vanessa and I first met, she was already working on her new songs; I bought her a guitar and as she didn't know how to play (he laughs) I taught her some few things about it. She made a lot of progress; I admire her, for the first time, she composed the songs on her own accompanying her with the piano or the guitar. There were times when she was looking for inspiration and couldn't find a link between a melody and some words and she came to me asking for advice; I just showed her some tricks, and that's it!
(Johnny on his contribution to Bliss from French Elle, 2000)"
"When Vanessa brought out her last album, “Bliss”, I was very proud. And not just because it was her. I knew the process of the maturing of the album. I knew at which point she gave herself. I have assisted at this as a witness. “Bliss” is a pure work. Like Vanessa herself, who always shows that she’s incredibly wise, incredibly funny, generous and French.
(Johnny on Bliss from French Premiere, 2003)"
