I think that POTC has a deeper meaning...I'm just not sure what it is! Yet. Talzie Palzie

I'm sure it does... I think it's really cool how this movie is very entertaining to the young kids... cause I mean they're pirates! but it's also entertaining to the older crowd cause of Will and Elizabeth... and all of the meaningful stuff

No... I don't fancy a "parley" ....because I have no idea what that is.... ....but a "parler" perhaps... I think it would have been hysterical if Johnny would have added in the bit about Barbossa's name being Hector... that cracks me up!

No... I don't fancy a "parley" ....because I have no idea what that is.... ....but a "parler" perhaps... Aha, smarty pants, huh? 'Parler' may be the french verb 'to speak'... but 'parley' is an English term (based on the french verb) for a discussion between two opposing sides, typically in a battle. And the only reason I know how to spell it is because I read it in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. Aragron raises his hand up to ask for 'parley' with the Uruk-Hai in the battle at Helm's Deep. But yeah, it's most definitely an English term, not an American one. (Luv ya, Roo! ) I think it would have been hysterical if Johnny would have added in the bit about Barbossa's name being Hector... that cracks me up! Oh, I know! Would've died laughing!

Ah, thank you CC. I feel much more informed now!! I'm not English or American... so it makes sense that confused me so. But when Elizabeth said "I envoke the right to 'parley' with Captain Barbossa" it made sense.... "I envoke the right to speak with Captain Barbossa"... since I'm french that's how I perceived it until now! love you too dear. And LOL... maybe Johnny will sneak the Hector thing in somehow in the 2nd POTC... At Barbossa's funeral perhaps? LOL... like he'd attend a funeral service for his mutinous mate... but.... ahh it would be hysterical!

*snicker* Not much chance for a burial... something tells me he's gonna be another pile of bones in that cave on Isla de Muerta. I do hope that Johnny get a reference in somehow. Maybe as a sort of... "Ah, I remember my dear friend Hector. I miss him. Oh wait, no. He started a mutiny and left me on a island! Bad Hector!" Phffffft! Yeah.

LOL! ....sounds lovely... But that would be cute of Jack to squeeze it into there somehow And I'm hopeful that he'll manage to do that! ....Do you all think we've seen the end of the cursed treasure? Or in your opinion do you believe they'll bring that back into play somehow?

Wonderful theory CC! I like it... Now we must wait over a year to find out if Gore Verbinski (sorry if I spelled that wrong) had the same thought process And if Jerry Brukhiemer allowed it to happen...

This is random, but not really off-topic, since this is the movie discussion thread... But did anyone else get REALLY grossed out at the end when Jack cut his hand with his sword? Ugh, with the noise and the... oh lordy, that had to be painful. *shivers* Ew.
