Well any movie that is 3hrs and 20mins long is going to be a little tire some but OMG I loved LOTR and POTC (trust me going to see the movies. takes a lot less time to read any of the books as good as tolkien is at writing he is wayyy to much of a perfectionest.)
That depends on the person. I was completely taken with FOTR, dazzled by TTT and moved so much by ROTK that I cried various times throughout the movie and still do (bad little pirate that I am has a copy at home!). But I would call Prof. Tolkien so much as a perfectionist as I would a detailedist (is that a word?). He was incredibly detailed in what he wrote so as to absorb the reader and probably himself into his world.
But having seen both esp. ROTK, could you just picture what exactly would happen if Jack Sparrow somehow sauntered into Middle Earth?

I must say the First LOTR my m8 got a pirate copy and i h8ed it honestly i had 2 turn it off i thought it was soooo boring ! Im sorry LOTR fans but that really dont float my boat so to speak! And the hobbit my teacher read it to the class 4 yrs ago o i h8d it far to long and although detail is good he puts too much in so that u lose half a plot just describing a colour or something like that!

Well, they aren't for everyone, and FOTR was mostly introducing the story and setting it up for the next two films. I'm currently re-reading the Hobbit - hadn't realized how much I missed it.

I mean it just shows how political these things can get , if he was playing the "Hollywood Game" and living in LA or Us full time he probably would have won years ago. But because he isnt and he lives and does what he wants which people should respect he has not been recognised. And he should have been because he is soo talented he is one of those actors who is never type cast and he changes everything about his charector from the look to the small mannerisms no1 even notices,he takes them to the extreme , but in the best possible way. Good luck Johnny for oscar you really deserve it

it's incredibly unfair how political award shows get. shouldn't it be about the talent? if it was, we all know he would have won tons of awards. i know i'm gonna go insane all day today until the Oscars! -Ciao

first I must apolgize for breaking subject again but I just wanted to comment on DD said. I think you might be right that tolkein is probaly not a Pefecoinst I have just heard him be called that since he started on that one book don't rember the name somthing with an S and he didn't get it finished so his son had to pick it up and finish and he made like two entire languages before even begining any of the series. But I still believe the man to be literary genius. and speaking of how Jack Sparrow santuring into Middle earth I am doing a fanfic/RPG that I need a jack charcter for its POTC/LOTR story line. lol just thought that was kind of ironic. but I am so disapointed that poor Johnny got nothing at oscars as big a LOTR fan I am I still wanted pirates to get somthing they deserve to.
That depends on the person. I was completely taken with FOTR, dazzled by TTT and moved so much by ROTK that I cried various times throughout the movie and still do (bad little pirate that I am has a copy at home!). When every part of him is gorgeous, how could I possible pick a favorite? But if I was threatened into it, I suppose I would have to pick his voice...mon dieu! So sexy. Telluride
