Spoilers. Don't read unless...er, you want to be, well...spoiled. The Immortal Jack Sparow. That scene did something to me, something that made me feel like Jack isn't all there, even moreso (or should I say less-so) then before. It shows how no matter what you've gone through with him, you'll still never know all that much about him. It would make a pretty nice AU fanfic if someone writes about him not dropping in the last piece of the treasure. It gave me chills, it really did, makes me wonder about Jack, and I mean really wonder. And worry, for people who cross his path in the future. I'm wondering about his knife. He dropped it into the chest with the bloody coin. Does that mean that became part of the treasure now and if Jack takes it he'll be cursed again? What do you guys think?
Well first it wasn't his knife. If you notice in that scene, it's the stone knife that's always been there, and that Barbossa earlier used to cut Elizabeth's hand and that Will used to cut his own hand. What I don't get is that whole scene. How does Jack still retain a coin and Barbossa died? Did they end up changing something?

Jack put the coin in before he killed Barbossa. He threw the coin to Will. In the deleted scene where he puts the coin in reluctantly, the regular film commentary had Gore talking about how his original idea was that each man held their own curse, so you only had to put back what you took to be un-cursed. He then found out that it wouldn't have worked, so they cut the scene.

Yeah, the origianl idea was VERY confusing. That originally had Jack NOT palming the coin, but he would still be cursed because he took the coin without repaying the blood. Then when Will dropped his coin, the pirate's curse would be broken, but not Jack's. Then that little scene would be where Jack broke his curse. It's a bit confusing, eh? I totally agree with Gore there. It's better the way they changed it, but that scene was too good to not put on the DVD. Too bad, they didn't do the skeleton animation.

They must have changed it before they even got to skeleton animation. WOuld have been cool still to see skeletal Jack, or the Immortal Captain Jack Sparrow, come waltzing up.

That's crazy. Nothing ever sells out here - guess we don't get the kind of rush everyone else gets. Worked out for me though.

All I can say is that the deleted scene between Jack and Will in the jail, when Jack talks about how when you only have one shot, you learn when it needs to be used -- that scene just emphasizes the side of Jack that I adore. I mean, yeah, the guy is freakin' hilarious, but there's gotta be something under the humor otherwise he'd only be so much cotten candy (with eyeliner and a title, and extremely attractive, to be sure ). I really like that man of the world part of Jack that shines through every now and then, very believible. And once again, I can't spell. Oh, and I need to say, "Is that a plane?" (I cracked up so hard at that point) Oh, and also, "Argh, swash-swash, buckle-buckle!" (Did Orlando's contant clearing of his throat remind anyone else of the odd-couple? Come to think of it, Jack and Will would make a pretty good odd-couple.) *wanders off to ponder this new idea* *looks at stars on her way out* Hey, what the freak? Is that TWO stars I spy with my little eye? *pulls out telescope* Yup. It sure is. And what does that say? "Sidekick in training?" Yay! No more newbie swooner for me! Couldn't resist, mate.

Yes! I loved that scene as well. I really wonder why it was cut. It wasn't that long and it really spoke alot about Jack. Hmm....guess we'll never know! *shrug* And congrats on your promotion! HEY!!! Have you all heard about the Easter Eggs on the DVD?? Check this out! Insert the second disc of the set and from the Main Menu select the entry 'Fly On The Set.' In the next screen, highlight the 'Play All' entry and then press the 'Right' arrow key on your remote control. This will highlight one of the teeth on the monkey and if you press 'Enter' you will get see a time-lapse clip of the construction of the pirate cave on the soundstage from beginning to end. Now go back to the Main Menu and select 'Below Deck.' Highlight 'Set Sail' and then press the 'Left' arrow key twice. This will highlight the skull on the medallion and give you access to an animatic of the climactic ship battle scene in the movie. Back on the 'Beyond Deck' menu, select 'Scene Index' and there go to the second page of chapter stops. Highlight the entry 'Pirate Ships' and then press the 'Left' arrow key on your remote control. This will highlight the ring on the skeleton’s hand and give you the chance to see the Japanese trailer for the movie. Now it is time to go back to the disc’s Main Menu and select the 'Moonlight Serenade' Scene Progression. Highlight the 'Main Menu' entry and then press the 'Down' arrow key on your remote control twice. This will highlight one of the incisors on the skeleton. Press 'Enter' now and you will see a very cool interview clip with Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards in which he discusses how Johnny Depp based elements of his character of Jack Sparrow on him – and indeed, once you make the connection, it is uncanny. Those are really cool little goodies, eh? ;D

If it were up to me, I'd say it was cut due to the film's length (every second counts) and the fact that it might be stressing the theme of "waiting for the opportune moment" just one too many. Although it was a great little Jack moment.
SOO silly when he's in Tortuga and is trying to distribute Gibbs and his beer, can't decide which one he wants.

I think they cut it because of time as someone already stated, and they wanted to keep it a simple summer movie with lots o' action. On the directors comentary Gore Verbinski (spelling?) says that if he could do it over he would include a lot more of the scenes where we get more of a grasp of Jack's character. Just a thought.

gahh i missed so much!! im soing INSANE!! ok ehres the things i absolutly LOVED about the DVD!!
1. the movie: i mean come on, thats the reason why we bought the DVD and love it right?? 2. johnny depp/gore verbinski commentary: OMG THIS WAS HILARIOUS!! but i do hafta say, it wasnt as funny as the Kiera Knightley/Jack Davenport commentary....the parts of the commentary that made me laugh the most was wen Gore was explaining how Orlando wanted to be cool like Johnny and he was constantly reminding Orlando, "No, yer still a dork" LOL...then there was the part where Johnny pointed out how Orlando was the first eprson to kill someone and they were like, :Goody goody two shoes gets the first!!"...hmm oh yea!! then at the end, at the credits, wen johnny and gore were waitin to watch the "secret" clip of the monkey, Johnny was like "Joe Pancake..." as the name came on the screen...it was just so hilarious how Johnny said it, and Gore was like "whut?" hahaha 3. Kiera Knightley/Jack Davenport commentary: oh gosh kiera has a good sense of humor!! she made me laugh ALOT! she kept pointing out where it was being flimed, she was like, " oh that was in LA....that was in the caribbean....that was in the caribbean...that was in LA, or was it in the caribbean? naw it was LA," hahaha and she was like "HAH! ORLANDO SAID HE LOVED MEE!! MEEE!" and "Oh there goes Johnny, upstaging me again! And again! the nerve of him!!" and then jack would reply "Wel that's his job you know, he gets paid to upstage us all" hahahaha i was LMAO 4. Deleted Scenes: Me fav deleted scenes were "No Truth At All" because omg!! you see all those scars and bullet holes on Jack, and i was like gasping fer 30 minutes! that was just a very emotional-ish scene and it got to mee lol, then there was "Peas in a Pod" scene, which i absolutley adore because in this scene, it seemed to me that jack and elizabeth were closer just a teensy bit...and it was so funny how wen jack turned around, norrington was right there and the look on jack's face was HILARIOUS, the "Not that Big" scene where elizabeth walked around the whole island and jack said "It's not that big is it?" that part just made elizabeth realize that jack wasn't as dumb as she thought he was...yea and then of course theres the one scene when jack was playing around wif gibbs and not giving him a mug lololol 5. Blooper Reel: nuff said matey ^.~ 6. Jerry Bruckhiemers Photo Diary: he had some amazing pics in der!! 7. Fly on the Set: It was just interesting to watch the actors behind the scenes and stuff, my fav was "Jack's Hanging" and "Blacksmith"
theres porbably MUCH more but i didn't wanna go blabbering THAT much!
