The new Bond film! ;D
I am so excited, I feel like I've been waiting for it for ages. Absolutely loved Casino Royale. I think Daniel Craig brings something new and intense to Bond (even if I, personally, don't find him attractive).
I hope this film lives up to the considerable hype. Anyone else excited?

You wouldn't believe this, but I have never seen any James Bond movies. Is that bad?

Nah, it's not bad. Took me ages to get into the series myself. I always thought they were just big budget action films...and they are...but there's some character development there too if you look. That said, I still haven't seen Daniel Craig's go at it. I'm still working up the time and ignoring my preconceptions of a dark-haired Bond. But Quantum of Solace does look pretty nifty from the previews. Does make you wonder how they're going to work the phrase 'quantum of solace' into the film though, haha.

Can't wait for this one. Daniel isn't a bad Bond either. His 1st bond was long but good overall!

I believe 'quantum of solace' is from a line in one of Ian Fleming's short stories. It's used to describe the way someone feels after a break up ie. there's no quantum of solace to be found once the loved one has walked away. Apparently this one is shorter which is no bad thing Of course not! If you want to start, definitely go for the Sean Connery Bond's first...they're much more fun than the serious brooding Daniel Craig films...they both have their place but I do miss fun Bond

OK, it sounds interesting I guess. I'll start with the Sean Connery Bond first then. What is the one with Sean Connery called?

Dr No From Russia With Love Goldfinger Thunderball You Only Live Twice Diamonds Are Forever Never Say Never Again (which is the independently produced one...so it's kind of unofficial Bond).
There you go, Illy. All of Sean Connery's Bond films in chronological order ;D

Thanks Jay! #hugs#
I'll write down that list, but I don't know when I'll be able to watch them all. I'll tell you what I think about them when I get to watch them though.

I saw a bit of Casino Royale on Sunday! I missed the beginning so I was lost at first, but I liked it! I also missed the end, but I really liked the part I saw. It didn't have Sean Connery in it, but it was interesting lol.
I can't wait to watch the rest of it. ;D

Nope, no Connery in Casino Royale. Though, according to Wiki they did make a movie of Casino Royale in the '60's featuring David Niven. I'd like to watch 'em both and pick out the stylistic differences.
I think I like Connery the most. His films were so camp.

I'm seeing Quantum of Solace tomorrow! Glad you enjoyed the part you saw! All the Bond actors are different and Daniel Craig's Casino Royale brought the films in line with the slick, dark action films of today...Sean Connery's are much more fun and relaxing ;D

Soooooo....I've seen it! Action: 4/5 (although I do hate it when they go all fancy on the camerawork at the expense of clarity...I want to know who's chasing/shooting who!) Storyline: 2/5 (definitely watch Casino Royale again before you go!) General Bondness: 3/5 Enjoyment factor: 4/5 Not as good as Casino Royale simply because the storyline/script weren't as tight but it was fun and suitably action-packed. Very dark and brooding though, no fun Bond here. Hopefully he lightens up a bit in the next one!

I saw all of Casino Royale on Saturday! I really liked it. I couldn't believe the ending - I never would've guessed that she would betray him. Although she did have her reasons. I felt so bad for poor James, he ended up resigning for her and everything. I'm glad he got back into the Secret Service though. The whole torturing scene was sooooo nasty! I thought it was kind of weird when they cut the bottom out of the chair and I couldn't figure out why they did it. And when Le Chiffre had that rope thing, I thought he was just going to whip James on the back or something. I couldn't understand why they took his clothes off either, I thought they did it to humiliate James or something, but my gosh that must've really hurt eh? It was pretty sick and I hate to say it, but it made me laugh a bit. I mean, it was just so out there. Poor James. So know I can't wait to see the Quantam of Solace. And the other Bond movies! That's cool, I'd love to see that version too.

I saw both of Craig's movie within a week and they are completely wild. Casino Royale - I wasn't sure what to make of it the first time I saw bits of it, but now that I understand that Casino Royale is a young, untested Bond, I can see why Bond is so rough and uncouth. I sort of like it because I love character development and it's cool to see how Bond became such a loveable dork. And, you know, M is love. M is my hero. I love Dame Judi Dench, and M is just so lovely, caring for Bond like a wayward son. Actually, all the "old" characters are kind of awesome, like Felix. I squeed for Felix. But the hinting at Moneypenny wasn't cool. That was mean. I liked Moneypenny. And the villain, Le Chiffre? I think he takes the cake for best villain ever. No, he's not deviously awesome or anything, but he a) had an inhaler, b) cried TEARS OF BLOOD, c) had amusing ideas about torture, d) CRIED TEARS OF BLOOD. Over all, with all the charm and grit and o.0-ness, it just worked (though the last half hour would definitely have made a better beginning for QoS than an end for CR). Quantum of Solace - It was just so . . . so . . . WOW. There was so much stuff going on; I think they were going for a record for "most number of unique chases in a movie." There was what, car (and delicious ones at that), foot, boat and plane. Probably more. I thought the bits with the people were slightly more interesting than some of the chases (except the one where they killed an Alfa and an Aston ) but it wasn't bad. Oh. And M was still awesome. Obviously.
