Where do I start?
The anticipation for this movie had me on tender hooks for months, I had read some of your comments (not all as I didn't want to spoil it) and looked at all the pictures, I had the sound track from the beginning of December and loved both the El Mariachi and Desperado
pictures, so I knew what Robert Rodriguez was like, but I didn't expect this.
The first time I watched it I didn't understand many things, like how RR could bring back Cheech Marin and Danny Trejo in the first 3 scenes because they were dead in Desperado. It wasn't until my third viewing when I decided to listen to the commentary that I understood that Robert improvised and just reinvented 2 new characters because he liked the actors.
Wouldn't really be a RR flick without them.
I loved the comedy aspect of the first two films (real tongue in cheek stuff) and was hoping that it would be the same in this one.
When I saw the title credits with 'Shot, Chopped and Scored by RR' I knew it was going to be funny.
The opening scene had me ROFL, when Sands said 'Yes I can' I was done for. Loved it.
I felt that Antonio wasn't as intense as he was in Desperado, maybe I was just too busy watching Sheldon, who knows.
I love the blood on the camera when Sands shoots the cook, I totally get that part now that I've seen it.
What is written on Sands hat when he is talking to El, the big white cowboy hat? Did anyone find out?
Loved the 'Savvy?' when he was talking to Ramirez, this was filmed before Pirates wasn't it?
So is there a section here for all Johnnys ad libs in the movie? Or is it under quotes?
Like..
Why wasn't I posted to Alaska?
I never want to see you again F.. off
Tug on the short and curlies
The big dance
Screw the pooch
and one I didn't understand that someone might explain to me..
You're about a quart short
I must go and investigate more, now that I've seen it.
Then I watched all the extra stuff, man, what a mind job, watch OUATIM 3 times then watch all the extra stuff.
Film School- The digital stuff is great with the knives and the blown hair, I am always taken in by this stuff and believe all of it LOL
At Troublemaker Studios- I want to go and play at Robert Rodriguez' house. How to compose in three easy lessons.
Cooking School- RR is so funny, he is brilliant, I gotta get me a menu.
Ham story was great and so typical of why we do things a certain way.
And the final thing I want to say about it is this-
RR always does things his way, so why can't he ignore convention and just go back and make the phantom third movie, instead just having flashbacks to it in this one? I heard him say 5 movies though so that has to be something to look forward to.
Only seven more days until I can see it on the big screen in wide format. I can dig it!
ps, sorry I forgot. CC the title song for OUATIM is track 14 on Mexico and Mariachis, I bought it as well as the DVD because I love the music so much.
