Hmm, yeah, I like the ending to the movie better too. The book was awesome, don't get me wrong, but...I dunno. Maybe I'm just too used to the idea of Roux and Vianne....not Roux and Josephine. I like it, all the same.

Yeah... but Josephine deserved a good man.... her husband was mean to her... she deserved some love too! ....but Roux is much cuter w/ Anouk!

I have to agree that I preferred the film to the book (which almost never happens!). I do like Joanne Harris' style of writing but the movie was just so much more fun. I liked the characters better in the film (and this isn't just because Johnny's in it...I don't think ) I wanted Roux and Vianne to be together so badly...but I suppose Josephine did deserve to have a decent man after all she'd been through. Overall, I'm sticking with the film...in fact I haven't watched it for a while...good job I don't have anything planned for this evening ;D

Yep, it sure is. It's quite a short book, well worth reading although I don't think it's her best work. Great film though ;D

No one has posted in this thread for a while.. but anyway, I've read the book and I really liked it. It is quite a bit different from the movie, especially the ending. I definatly like the movie more

Everyone seems to say that. But I slightly disagree. I happened to lke the ending of the book Josephine got together with someone who honestly likes her. There's nothing wrong with that.

I am still having issues with this. As much as I love Vianne, and I do, she doesn't need Roux. Roux in the movie was perfect for her but in the book not so much. She had her daughter, she had her love of bringing people together. Josephine both book and movie wise needed somebody like her, who understood her. She found that person in Roux. I'm glad she did. Poor woman needed actual love.
