I have a very funny story in relation to this movie, which I dearly and truly love. The week of Halloween, I got it in me to rent Sleepy Hollow, which I knew Johnny was in but had never seen. Discouraging, I'm a terrible fan, I know. So the plan was to rent the movie over the weekend, snuggle up with popcorn and watch it over and over again. But that plan changed. It turns out my super-cool American Literature teacher (Mrs. S.) decided that the movie would make a very good closure to our American Gothic unit. Heeheehee. Not only did we get to watch the movie, but we also get to have heated discussions and write essays about Ichabod-the-rationalist and Katrina-the-Romancer. I will never be able to look at this movie without a scholar-ly approach. Ichabod is a rationalist because blahdiblahdiblah. Mrs. S. ruined me, but at the same time she is utterly hilarious. The first day, we watched the first 40 minutes. Ichabod was hilarious. Johnny was brilliant as Ichabod. Mrs. S was nearly falling out of her chair laughing at the scenes, pointing at the tv, louders one in the class. I was the second loudest. ^_^ I was nearly crying during the blanket scene. And with the witch thing, I jumped up and yelled "oh my crap!" They had just come to the tree when we had to stop. I feared I would only get to watch the last 40 minutes of it on friday before our week off, so I run to Raisins's (froda) and beg for spoilers until I find a transcript and spoil the beans outta me, much against Raisins's wishes. Sorry babe, I really am. Turns out, we had a double english period for some wierd reason having something to do with hall decorating for Homecoming, and we ended up finishing the movie. And I knew everything that was going to happen, but I was so emotional over it. And when Ichabod faints for the last time at the end, the whole class cheered. I yelled out "Five!" and my friend didn't understand, so I had to explain it was his 5th time fainting. She looked very confused. And yesterday we got to watch the making of sleepy hollow thing. Much to my dismay, Mrs. S fast forwarded through Johnny getting dragged around in the mud, for the sole purpose of education. smeep. I nearly cried when Ichabod wakes in Katrina's arms. So sweet. I can see why it's Raisins's favorite scene. And that blinkie, with Johnny eating the blanket, nearly made me pee my pants. Insanely hilarious. -gyps

I wish I had an amusing story like that about the first time I saw Sleepy Hollow. :-( Oh well, that's ok. I'll survive. But now I've got to watch it again...like, right now. OH, and the blanket eating thing made me crack up!!! Hillarious!!!

It's not my fault! Tim was the one talking about the fog all the time! When I get in my directors commentary moods, you KNOW better! BLAH BLAH BLAH THE FOG!

We should've watched Sleepy Hollow in American Lit... but did we? Noooo. We had to watch The Scarlet Letter and The Crucible instead. The Crucible is NOT Winona's best movie.

We didn't get to watch any fun movies in American Lit. either, G.G. We also had to watch and read the Crucible. Man I did not like that book...and I agree with the comment about how it's not Winona Ryders' best movie. Blech.

I've never been able to get into the directors' commentaries. They always seem so dull in comparison to what's going on on the screen!

Man I cannot wait for christmas sales. I can't get one Johnny movie at a time now, b/c I can't pick one or the other. I love making ofs and this one sounds hilarious.

I always liked the director's commentaries, especally Tim Burton's, because they always told so much more about what was going on. Little aneqdotes about shooting the scenes, stuff like that. 'Course, I'm an absolutely movie junkie in every way, so maybe this is just me being obsessive. *shrug* Who knows?

I imagine a Tim Burton commentary is quite interesting...

Ah, such a great movie. Saw it for the first time this halloween and immediatly fell in love with it. Johnny's character is great, makes a funny movie despite being a horror flick. The spider scene just cracks me up everyone time, is one that I rewind and watch over and over again. Plus, I can relate very easily. Loved this line as well. "I will need to operate immediately." "Operate? She's dead." "When we say 'operate', we mean, of course, I will need the operating table." Plus how about the fainting, anyone have a count on the number of fainting moments. hehe, it's got to be a lot. EDIT: Forget to mention, thanks for posting the sound clips link!! I love them.
