Yeah...I'm reminded of that scene at the end... "Hold me" "...I can't."
I know!!! That's the scene that always does me in! Man, now I'm tempted to write some Edfic.....

LOL! Just please...don't make it a Sue.
Here's what I would do; I would take a favorite scene from the movie, like...that scene at the end between Edward and Kim, and write it from the perspectives of the characters in the scene. It's a good writing exercise and it helps to really lock in the characters.
Or you could do a filler scene, like something between Edward and the creator, to help fill in the backstory.

Hmmm. I like backstories.
Maybe I should do one.

Backstory helps in character analysis, and character analysis is, as has already been stated, a very good thing.

Don't worry - I stay far away from Sues. I was thinking of rewriting the ending, or softening it at least so that it wasn't totally sad. But I like the character perspective too. Thanks RA!

OOO, an Edfic in the makings!!! *becomes giddy at what she's stumbled upon* There are far far too few Edfics out there. I'd write my own, but Captain Jack is being too annoying right now for me to do anything but finish his fic. And then there's the OUATIM fic I've promised to everyone....sigh....someday....

Oh my god, Edward Scissorhands...It was my first. My one and only, actually the first movie I ever saw upon moving to the States. I moved here when there were 4 months left of 3rd grade. A few weeks later, I made a friend who invited me to a sleepover party. Her dad had rented a movie so we all decided to pop it in. Ooh, pale guy with wild hair, no eyebrows, heavy-duty bondage and scissors for hands. Not a very happy image for a third grader. Well, no third grader except me. I fell in love with the movie, had mom rent it, watched it until it was overdue and then that was it.
Years later, I'm at the mall and see it on sale. The 3rd grade fangirl and Johnny Depp lover inside of me squeals with delight and gets the film. I cried when I saw it in 3rd grade, and to this day, every time I watch it, I still cry. It just makes me so sad. The beginning has me in hysterics ("...glands?..." best line of the movie, by far), and the end has me crying. I'm such a mess. A friend came over once when I had finished, my eyes were all pink, she thought something really bad had happened, like a family death or something. *sniffs* I'm such a pathetic mess, but it's fun being obsessed. I doubt I'll ever stop crying over this movie.

There's nothing wrong with crying every now and again (actually it's quite healthy especially for women, but that's ). I still cry at that movie too, and I'm twenty. Yes I'm fairly old - saw this movie when I was like eight or something.
