Teehee yes I do love that part! It makes me giggle.
Arnie is sooo sweet...and then he is off with his grasshopper beheading machine (the mailbox.)
I just can't get over how well Leonardo DiCaprio captured Arnie and his emotions. *claps for Leo*
And then he feels SO horrible later on...like it just occurs to him what he did.
as Gilbert says (in the book) : "Arnie cried for hours, cried himself to sleep. I wonder if it ever occurs to the [Nazis] what they did, and if it ever sinks in to a point that their bodies ache from the horrible mess they have made. Or are the so smart that they can lie to us and to themselves? The beautiful thing about Arnie is that he's too stupid to lie. Or too smart."

Oh yes... what a wonderful exerpt! I can't quote like that... but I smiled when I read it... If only the Nazi's had had that realization after killing some people... and they would have stopped... gosh what a terrible thing to have happened in history...

My favorite part is when Gilbert wakes up and he's snuggling with Becky, for two reasons. First, it makes me happy that Gilbert's finally getting a break, second because I'm a dork. For awhile I had almost the same haircut as Becky and when my friends and I watched that movie, in that specific scene they all said, "It looks like YOU'RE cuddling with Johnny Depp!" That made me REALLY happy. ;D

I love that part too LF. The way they look at each other when they first wake up is sooo sweet. I also LOVE the scene right at the end when Gilbert gets in the back seat of Becky's truck and she scrambles into his lap from the front seat and starts hugging/kissing him. How sweet is that? Oh I love Gilbert.

Little Fox, can you only imagine cuddling with Johnny Depp? That would make ANY girl happy! And Telluride, Becky and Gilbert are just infinitely sweet, I love every scene they are together in!

Meeee too BP. ;D Although Juliet Lewis was not how I expected Becky to be, I thought she and Johnny played VERY well off of each other. You could see how much the characters cared about each other in their expressions. I love the scene in the rain when they think the truck is fixed and he's sad, and then the truck dies and they smile at each other and hug.

Yes they sure did play very well off of each other.... I read in one of the interviews that Juliet didn't speak with Johnny or Leo. throughout most of the filming in the beginning to get in character. She isolated herself to get the right feeling... I found that very interesting, and then at the end of filming in the premiere she and Johnny walked in together linked with arms...

I know what I might have done ... But I think she was very professional, it must have been a hard choice, but I think we'd all agree it greatly benefited the film.

I too can think of plenty of things to do if I had Johnny on set... It sure did benefit the film. What wonderful dedication to her acting career.

...And at the time both had steady dates... I'm sure that made the choice easier for Juliet.... but who could be better than Johnny? NO ONE!
