Believe it or not ladies, it looks like another JD flick is in production! A new movie called Shantaram, coming in 2007, shall be starring our Johnny. He will be playing a criminal named Lindsay. Read more about it at www.imdb.com/title/tt0429087/ ;D

This role will take the whole anti-hero character to a new level. The book is superb, I can't put it down and when I do, its because I am laughing so much I can't breathe. It is not a comedic book, just certain passages are mind blowingly funny. (maybe it just appealed to my Aussie sense of humour) Lots of drug references. Can't wait to see who will play Prabaker/Prabu. As the repore between Linbaba and Prabu will have to shine through on screen or it won't work. I am so excited over this. Where do I sign up to be 'voice coach' ? Gee, I'll even do it over the phone, for free. Give me a call Mr Depp ;D edit heres the Shantaram site www.shantaram.com/

Nah Rollie, I've known about this for a fair while, thats what made me go out and get the book I put something about it in the Infinitum Nihil thread back on October 8th. But the preproduction stuff is a lot further ahead than what I knew about. Johnny and Gregory have already had meetings

Not necessarly a good thing for him, because he has quite a work load on his shoulders, If I were him Id be crying by now....

*long whistle* From the imdb summaries, it sounds like Shantaram is gonna be a deep and satisfying drama. Almost in the same way as Donnie Brasco but with a plot, genre, acting, and geographical landscape that in no way resembles Johnny's latest (and I think only) mob film. I'll watch it, as long as the director has enough sense to give Johnny whatever he wants. -The Artisan

This is really interesting because IMDB.com states that Emily Watson and Helena Bonham Carter are part of the main cast for this movie, while they are both star voices in the movie The Corpse Bride. Wow. They're lucky to be doing two movies with Johnny.
