I wish I could give you a straight answer, 20th CG, but I truly don't remember. All I remember was that it was in an interview somewhere and I wrote down the book title. If I remember where I read it, I'll be sure and let you know!!

I read in an interview that Johnny named his son Jack after Jack Kerouac, the author of On the Road, and that the novel was a huge influence on him and had a big impact. I'll let you know if I find any other books he likes other than the ones FF and I are reading.

What am I reading now...well I just finished Book I of LotR (first half of FotR), in preparation for RotK, I'm rereading the trilogy.
Then I'm planning on picking up Chocolat and What's Eating Gilbert Grape, and possibly Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, though I'm not sure exactly how much time I'll have as I'm taking two literature classes next semester. I also want to reread all five HP books before PoA comes out this summer.
As for what's actually on my bookshelf...umm...lots of stuff.
Dorm: Lots of various things, HP, my Tolkien collection, Jane Eyre, Dracula, my (rather small) collection of Shakespeare's work, Seabiscuit among other things.
I also have at home a lot of Ann Rinaldi's stuff, Wuthering Heights, Little Women, a few Jane Austen novels, a collection of F. Scott Fitzgerald's short stories...etc.
So yeah...haha. That's about it.
Oh and I love Stinky Cheese Man! ;D

At the moment its The Complete Adventures of Charlie and Mr Willie Wonka by Roald Dahl, I am reading it to my son but I am enjoying it immensely. Heres a quote from the book describing how everyone sees Mr Willie Wonka for the first time.
" He had a black top hat on his head. He wore a tail coat made of a beautiful plum-coloured velvet. His trousers were bottle green. His gloves were pearly grey. And in one hand he carried a fine gold-topped walking cane. Covering his chin, there was a small neat, pointed black beard - a goatee. And his eyes - his eyes were most marvellously bright. They seemed to be sparkling and twinkling at you all the time."
Now I may already be zonko but does this description remind anyone else of Mr Depp?
Cannot wait for this movie and Tims slant on it.

My bookshelf? Methinks I should just list authors. Tamora Pierce, Garth Nix, Patricia C. Wrede, Robin McKinley (I need to read 'Sunshine' gosh darnit! I need money to buy it because the library doesn't have it! ) Old textbooks that might come in handy later (like my phych text). Lots of mythology, fables, and fairytales. Should my birthday/xmas ever get here, there'll be (hopefully) a book or two about pirates and the history of pirates. Kinda like this --> But not quite. And then there's the pile by my desk; dictionary, thesaurus, baby name book for naming characters in stories, Alice in Wonderland, atlas, dictionary of quotations, etc. I think you get the point. ;D

I finished reading Pefume: the Diary of a Murderer by Patrick Suskind, recommended by Johnny himself, and boy lemme tell you, that was one twisted book. It was really interesting and well detailed......but twisted. Let's see, I just read The Regulators, by Richard Bachman/Stephen King and Blood Canticle by Anne Rice. Over my Christmas break, about a month, I plan to read Nicholas Nickleby by Charles Dickens, Slaugherhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.......all for fun. Can you tell I like to read?

Ah, Slaughter House Five (Schlachtoff Funf, if my spelling and memory are correct) was amazing. Iloved that book so smeep much. I first read it 2 summers ago when I was at sleepaway camp. One of the older girls had to read it for summer reading but didn't like it, so I borrowed it. By the end of the summer, I had read it two and a half times and was madly obsessed with Vonnegut's writing style. Then, one year later I was given the choice of some books for summer reading and guess what was on the list? Slaughter House Five. Of course I chose it, and read it three times over the summer, but I remembered every word.
Now and then, when I get bored, I always re-read it. It's a pretty easy read for me, though, adn i can get through it in about 2 days. Go read it now!

Ahh! The Great Gatsby! Noooooo!!!! Sorry. Bad English lit memories. You know what the first thing our teacher told us before we started reading that book? It was 'I can't stand this story, but it's got some great symbolism. That's why we're reading it." Seriously, that's what she said. FF, I salute you wanting to read that book. I'm not sure I would be able to read it without all those memories getting in the way.

Oh, I have those memories too, and many more just like it. I started out at college as an English/Literature major. Let's just say, I'm glad I changed it now. I had to read a ton of books where the professors made comments like that before we read them, "I really hate this book, but it's a good example of the writing style of that period..." Give me a break. I was always like, "Well if you hate it so much, why are you inflicting it on us??!!" But thanks for the support SD. And once again, yes, I am reading all of these for fun. Am I insane? Yeah, probably. ;D

*sigh* I just read last week, the first half of ROTK, and some of the next chapter....and my sister took it back from whence it came and left me in the bloody middle of a chapter!!! Tried to get it at the library. All checked out. Like I didn't see that coming a mile away. Tried to get it at the university library. One left, but guess what? I have a fine from a million years ago and I can't pay with cash, I have to pay with a check. So they suck and I get no book. Would just go to the book store and BUY it, but yeah, wouldn't you know it? I am so broke that... well, we won't get into that. Anybody know if it's online anywhere?

Aww, poor CC! I looked all over for you and I couldn't find a version of the book online (free ones, anyway). Sorry! Though I will definitely let you know if I find anything. Right now I'm reading Treasure Island for the first time since I was eight years old. The pirate in me has definitely re-surfaced after a seven-year hiatus, and I can remember when I was little wanting to be a pirate and recover buried treasure. Now I want to do it again! It's also great to gear up on pirate lingo and lifestyle in case you fancy writing POTC fanfiction.

I tried to read 'Treasure Island' one. Yeah, after three weeks had gone by, I wasn't past chapter five, and I had fallen asleep for the eighth time, I gave up. Yes, I don't know what's wrong with me, that's never happened before, and I wasn't reading late at night. No, I was reading it at school during our mandatory reading time. For some reason, I felt like this while reading that book --> Hey, RL Stevenson does hold the record for making me actually fall asleep while reading. The only other thing on that list is the Driver's Ed book. Reading, what am I reading now . . . looks around room. I'm in the midst of 'Trickster's Choice' by Tamora Pierce, 'The Oath' by Frank Peretti, 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'The Darkest Part of the Woods' by Ramsey Campbell. ;D Maybe I should limit myself to one or two books at a time rather than four.
