To me this film is quite similar to Arizona Dream and Secret window possibly the 9th gate too , in the way all of these films make you think. And in the nicest way, weird!
For example Arizona Dream is extremely different from that orginal beginning to the twisted love story and floating fish.
Secret window about someone effectively going mad !
And Dead man this film is very weird but also wonderful and i feel these films are linking by their thought provoking properties and general weirdness that only appeals to certain people.
What do you all think??

Plus Dead Mans kinda warped humour which is like Arizona dreams and Edward scissorhands!

The idea of weird & wonderful always seems to appeal to Johnny. He likes to "buck a trend" & I get the feeling that he is a deep thinker. To me Dead Man is the most difficult & challenging of all his films so far. It takes some getting used to but each time viewed has something new to offer on a new level. The score is absolutely amazing, as is the photography, not to mention Johnny who looks more worthy than usual. Not sure it is my place but think a discussion on the many aspects of this film are thoughtworthy.Just MHO.

Very good points B4D yes i also think that the main reasons these films are alike is because of Johnny's taste e.g his almost need to do somthing different and unusual.

This film reminded me very much of 'The Brave'. The long stretches of silence, the reliance on photography and slow moving action rather than speech. I think the two are very similar in style

I was definately picking up on the "Mort" moments in the film. Every once in awhile poor Bill would say something and I'd go, "Whoa...why's Mort in this movie?" The voice he used for both characters was very similiar I think. Not to mention there was the same sense of warped humor - possibly because both were in surreal circumstances. That's my .

I indeed saw many connections with the classic Depp film of "The Brave" It has that wonderful slow build up and feel to it. Very intense film

It does indeed. And also i find William quite like the Earl you feel sorry for both characters and their situations.
