Well just simply, make the layer mask, take the black to white gradient tool, and then use it on the part of the picture you want to fade away, for example: the place where your first point goes is the end of the picture, the place where it should all be gone, whereas the second point is where it'll fade, for example, in that screenshot, my first point was the one on the right where you can see a semi cross thing, the second point is the one on the left, where the line ends. And it turns out like this:

I have a question for this latest topic HF. After you put the B&W gradient on top of where you want it blended together, how do you go about getting the finished picture? This is what I've got so far Thanks for the help HF ~SS~

Oh SS, I think you messed up a bit at the layer mask step, you're not making a new layer ontop of the pictures, you click the button of the camera looking thing (Rectangle with circiel in the center) at the bottom of the layers palette (circled in red ni the picure below), and you'll see that a new blank rectangle has appeared next to one of your picture's layers, like so: And you should see that your pictures still look the same on your document. Then do the gradient, and if you did it right, it should just turn up blended like mines did

LoL! It doesn't too much patience, as I've learned to maintain the temper when teaching something, with little cousins and their unlimited questions Maybe I should do that too! "Hi, welcome to JA, my name is The High Flyer AKA HblondeF!"

You can either buy an Animation Shop program that helps you through animation, or you can download some free trials at www.downloads.com, just search for "Animator" or something along those lines. ALSO, another way is to buy/download Photoshop, which comes with Image Ready, which is what I use for animating. Hey. okay, thanks! _JSG

Okay HF I tried the bitmap thing... and it didn't turn out so well. Is there a way to make the gridding not quite so pronounced? In the first two pictures it's hard to tell what they are... I mean of course they are Johnny but we can't see the definitions of him... I'll keep toying with it

Just put the Opacity down a bit until you get what you want, it's all a matter of experimenting with different modes (I usually use Soft Light) and then changing the opactiy
