Come one, come all. Welcome writers, fans, those who want to extend/exercise their creative writing muscles, and everyone in between.
This thread has been set up as a place where everyone - writers and readers - can take part in the creative process. That's right, this is a fic writting challenge thread. But before we get started, a few rules need to be laid down.
-------------------------------
1) Anyone and everyone can post a challenge and respond to one. An example of a challenge would be as follows: Write a short story giving another version of the "Jack got off the island tale." Include the words "kelp," "pandimonium," and "slug." Story not to exceed 1,000 words. Title it The Jack Sparrow We've Heard About.
1.5) Make sure you use a title if one is given, or otherwise indicate the challenge you're responding to. This is very important to keep people from getting confused.
2) If you're going to take part in a challenge, please try to include as many of listed elements as possible. If you can't include all of them, or if you can't manage to stay under a word limit - like me - don't sweat it. We're here to have fun and be creative.
3) All fics posted on the boards must follow the Terms of Serivce, which means that they cannot have a higher rating than PG-13. This is important. If you don't know what defines a PG-13 rating or need to brush up on the TOS please go here. to refresh yourself.
3.5) If your story turns out to be rated R, at this time we'll just ask you to post a notice that you're responding to a challenge, but to actually post your story on fanfiction.net - if anyone needs help doing that, you can PM me, or one of the other angels who regularly post there.
4) Everyone is welcome to give imput on a story that they read here, but please, do use your manners. I don't think we'll have a problem with flaming, but I want to cover all my bases. Constructive critism is wonderful though, and can really help an author.
----------------------------------------
I think that should handle it for the time being. And while we're at it, I'll go ahead and issue my example as the first challenge.
