So...what do you guys think of him? Crazy? Genius? Stoned? Ripped? Twisted? A good person?
I just thought it might be funny to add that I'm entering the Scholastic Writing Awards. There are many categories, and for my entry to the Journalism category, I plan to write a biography about the good doctor himself, Hunter S. Thompson. I need to do LOTS of reading if I want to get this in by January 10th.
Anyone want to contribute some helpful and useful/useless facts about Hunter? Anything would help.

DaDi, you probably know this already but if not... Do you have the Criterion Collection for F&L? The producer Laila (sorry can't remember her last name) did a voice over during the movie as well, and she lived with Hunter for many years, there were plenty of personal insights into Hunters character and her push to have the film made so that Hunter would be proud of it. I could send you my copy if it would help?

I only saw it three times! That is definately not too many. And as for the DVD, once all my holiday shopping is done, I'm seriously considering to smeep saving money and take some from the bank so I can start writing myself.

Ooh, entering a contest, huh, DaDi? Awesome! And I love that you're writing about the Good Doctor himself. If you want I can ask my stepfather for a few little tidbits on Hunter, since he took a course on him, as I told you already. And concerning HST himself, he's definitely quite bonkers, but his writing style is amazing. He is, without a doubt, a genius. He did come up with F+L, after all. But it amazes me that he's still alive. Most people you think would expire just after that one weekend in which F+L took place...but nope. Hunter's still alive and kicking, thank goodness.

Holy crapola!! The interview on Conan was abso-frickin'-hillarious!!! I loved it!!! Taking Conan out shooting, making his own Nike brand shoes....LOL!! And of course the insights about Johnny's time in Hunter's basement made me laugh like a madwoman. ;D I don't know what I would do if I found a keg of dynamite by my bed......

Awww, I'm sorry to hear that, DaD. That's too bad. Writer's block sucks. Have a Johnny movie marathon to cheer yourself up. At least, it always seems to work for me. Hang in there. -FF

The man isn't bad.... "marvelous twisted brain" ...a great feature to have... i mean... come on.. there is only a small line between genuis and insanity... johnny depp, terry gilliam, hunter t. and tim burton are riding it... and it makes them all the more appealing... doncha think?

A very good point, donnieb4me. I seem to be riding that marvelous wave of insanity myself. And yes, I've always found a little madness appealing in a man. You made some good references. ;D
