In my STEP UP class (gifted thingy) we are doing 10 minute monologues on a real or fictional character of our choice. I have decides to go with Ed Wood! He's super quirky and awesome, especially because he was a real person (and because Johnny played him, of course ). I'm thinking I'm going to talk about his career and lifestyle, and show a clip from the real "Plan 9 from Outer Space." If anybody has any other ideas, please share! Also, dressing as a man dressing as a woman seems really fun to me. ;D

How cool is that?! But, alas, I have no helpful ideas for you other than the obvious wardrobe option (angora sweater, giant octopus, etc.) ;D Um, I guess you could maybe dress up, say, if you feeling outgoing that day, but whatever you decide I'm sure your monologue will rock the house. And anyway, Rollie, you're not the first one to do a semi-Johnny related class project. If it's like, at all relevant, I'm writing an essay about Buster Keaton in my English class... *Nutty turns to Sam, who is glued to Rollie's elbow always* Hear that? Groovy huh? Teehee.

Thank ya Nutty! Hehe, your essay sounds pretty darn sweet. Dress rehersal for the monologues are on Monday... this is what I have so far, though I'm going to add more over the weekend. [Walk in wearing blond wig, a pink angore sweater, and other feminine apparel] Hello. My name is Edward D. Wood Jr. Perhaps you are familiar with some of my work. Throughout the fifties, I wrote and directed marvelous films such as "The Sun was Setting", "Glen or Glenda," "Bride of the Monster" and and my biggest achievement, "Plan 9 from Outer Space." Now, the critics didn't find these pictures quite as inspiring as they truely are... "Plan 9" has actually been billed as The Worst Film Ever Made. The problem with these critics is they just don't know how to look at the big picture. For instance... an actor can stumble on his way out of a room, or flub a few lines. This is real, raw, true filmmaking, though it is rarely viewed as such. Before I go on, you may notice I'm dressed in women's clothing. Now, I am not gay... I love women. I just feel comfortable wearing what they wear. When I fought in World War II, I wore a brassiere and panties underneath my uniform. Sadly, my choices have consequences... my ex-wife Norma kicked me out the the house on our wedding night after discovering my secret. As a matter of fact, one of my famous films, "Glen or Glenda" is based upon my preferences. [Show clip of "Glen or Glenda"] It was in that movie when I first worked with the great legend, Bela Lugosi. I'd admired him ever since he portrayed Count Dracula in 1931. Ah, that man was a genius. However, he had a drug problem... addicted to morphine... and eventually died of a heart attack in the middle of filming "Plan 9 from Outer Space." Luckily I was able to replace him with my wife's chiropractor. They didn't look exactly alike, but I was able to have him cover his face with a cape in a few shots. [Show clip of "Plan 9 from Outer Space"] I think it all turned out quite well... but poor Bela. We had him buried in his Dracula costume. Dear Bela was one of my idols... but another man I admired greatly was the wonderful Orson Welles. What an amazing director... he helped inspire me to keep going even when the critics would make me feel worthless. I had the pleasure of meeting him in a restaurant once... he helped encourage me to live out my dreams. I'm sad to say that my later life didn't go quite as I planned... I drank more than I should have, and started filming movies, well, other than science fiction. But all in all, I'm proud of what I've accomplished. I've been able to work with stars such as Torr Johnson, Bunny Breckinridge, and Vampira, as well as Bela. I've had a successful life, no matter what the critics say. As I said, I'm going to add a bit more... probably about the people I mentioned in the end, as well as his wife. I just hope I can get the clips in time! But I'm really excited.. this should be fun!
