If Sylvia had lived, what do you think would have happened between her and James? Would they have continued their close friendship, or do you think it would have blossomed into more? Also, would you have prefered them to have a romantic relationship in the movie? Personally, I think they would have stayed close friends, but eventually spark a romance. Maybe that's just my hopeless-romantic mind talking, but I think they truely had something special. Of course, they're friendship was wonderful, but I think it would have become even more. Believe it or not, I think I liked the friendship in the movie as oposed to a romance. I absolutely love love, but for this type of movie it seemed a kind friendship worked better than some passionate or complicated romance. It might have taken away from the magic of the story. What are your thoughts?

At last I got back on!! Hurrah! I agree with you that much of the magic about the movie centres on their chaste love & true friendship. It epitomises the sort of friendship I belive we all desire but rarely acquire: the unselfsih, totally dedicated kind. Come on folks what do you all think?

If Sylvia had lived I'd say they'd still have had the friendship, which is mainly what they had a really good friendship but there would have been a chance at a good relationship if given time. Her boys already had accepted him so I'd say that'd probably help if they ever did endevour into a relationship

I reckon they would have been more than friends. They really suited eachother and i reckon they would have lived a very happy life together

well he loved her definitely...and I think she loved him too...but I don't know if a relationship would have come out of it...it just doesn't seem like it would have been as exciting as their friendship...I don't know if that makes sense

I think Sylvia and James might've become more than friends if she lived. I loved their friendship though, it was really sweet and caring.
