Okay, so The Source is one of Johnny's lesser known movies, so here's a bit of an explanation. It's primarily a documentary about the Beat movement-- the poets and their works, the stereotype, and the effect on the world. The film also focuses on and portrays three of quite possibly the most influential Beat poets: Allen Ginsberg (played by John Turturro), William S. Burroughs (played by Dennis Hopper), and Jack Kerouac (played by Johnny Depp). The actors read the poets' work as the poets themselves, interspersed between the scenes of the documentary. Any questions? Comments? Opinions? Post 'em here.

Smeep! Why, exactly, does Blockbuster seem to have to ban all the good Johnny movies just because they aren't big-budgeters? *narrows eyes* That's it. I'm writing a comment. Needless to say, I haven't seen The Source quite yet. But until then, I intend to get as much info as possible from this place. BB/LF, do you happen to know what the title is all about? How does " The Source" play into the documentary?

Hmmm... that's a good question, Artisan. They don't come out and say it, in the movie, I don't believe (if I'm wrong, someone please feel free to say so, since my copy of 'The Source' got stolen and I can't refer back to it ), so I'll just give you my POV about the matter. 'The Source', quite literally, is a great source of information on the Beats. It literally goes through everything, and if you didn't know anything about the movement before, you'll definitely get it after seeing this movie. That's why I recommend it so highly. Also, the three writers discussed (Kerouac, Ginserg, and Burroughs) are known as the originators of the Beat Movement. The "source" of it, if you will. There could be many different reasons why it's named that, but that's what I gather. Any other ideas, anyone?
