In The Source, Johnny plays Jack Kerouac, one of the greatest writers of all time (or, at least in my opinion ). In his performance, he mainly speaks lines from Kerouac's most popular book, On the Road. The book is about Kerouac's journey through America and the experiences and people he encounters while he travels the country. It's an amazing book, life-changing even, and I highly recommend it!! Here, we'll discuss this fantastic book (because I know at least a few of you have read it!). What did you think of it? Love it? Hate it? Favorite part? Least favorite part? Post away!! ;D

Well I don't think I can help too much in this thread yet, as I only just started reading it, and am only on like the second page. But from all the raving and greatness I hear of it, I know it'll be pretty darn good. Even though I've only read so much, I can tell I'll like it by the way Kerouac writes even the simplest things, it appeals to my sort of taste.

Ooh! *waves hand furiously* I read it, I read it! And lemme tell you, I luuuuuuuurve that Dean Moriarty. Sin that he's so bad at relationships though. Oh well, I'd still hug him. ;D On a different note, I love Kerouac's imagery. Where he's describing people going up like roman candles and the oohing and ahhing...yeah, that's just spectacular. And how he described Dean at the end, how they wouldn't let him come with them and they watched him until he disappeared from view, that about made me cry. Still does, in fact.

I don't own/have read the actual book, but I have the audio CD "Jack Kerouac Reading On The Road" which is amazing. The songs he sings are beautiful, the sections which he recites are... just... wow. I'm a huge, huge fan of Kerouac and the beat generation.

Well, I haven't exactly finished the book yet. I started reading it on and off for a while, and then I started reading the book for a class, but I lost interest after a while and I don't really remember anything but the first two chapters, lol.
From what I've read, I liked it. I have a habit with never finishing books. lol. When I really fully get my full concentration back and read the whole book, I'll let you know what I thought about it. #crown#

Well if you read anything, MJ, it should be this one. Really gives someone a "kick start."
