Willy Wonka was refused candy as a child. What's something your parents put off-limits for you when you were small. For me it was caffeine pop(until i was six or seven), certain cartoons(Ren and stimpy, Rocko's modern life) and sleepovers and parties to friends that my mom didn't know the parents well. None of this really bothered me, you can't miss what you never had you know?

Hey, good thread idea. But I really have nothing to contribute either. Sorry mates, but exactly how many parents actually deny their kids something as important as chocolate? That's just weirdness.

Mine is actually similar to Wonka's! My parents wouldn't let me eat sweets, they'd let me eat chocolate, but not sweets. I remember my dad telling me "sweets rot your teeth, I don't want you to ruin them!!" I always found that really tight.

Man, that's rough... I mean strict. I hope you can eat candy nowadays.

My parents wouldn't let me have hard sweets like lollipops and things. I think that's fair enough, although I'm sure I didn't at the time

I didn't watch an R rated movie until i was about 12 or 13, my parents used to be pretty strict about what films i saw

Oh, I never saw an 18 movie until I was 17, I think, but that was more personal choice. I was definitely not allowed to see 15's before I was 14 though ;D My younger sister watches stuff now that I would never have been allowed to watch She's tougher than me though

Aye, I wasn't allowed to drink pop for most of my life (though I still hardly ever drink it now) and I didn't see my first R movie until 8th grade. I'm also not allowed to ride in cars with teenage drivers, nor am I allowed to drive until I'm 18. I'm terrified of car accidents, so it's not too bad, except for when I realize how much more freedom it seems like everyone else around me has. But ah well, I rarely "go out" anyways, and my mom said when I do she'd much rather pick me up from a party at 12 or 1 instead of me going home with a friend. Makes sence, annoying as it is sometimes.

You're absolutely right, my mother is just like yours, except she says she would rather everyone came to her house and hung out so she would know exactly what i was doing, who i was with and with a responsible adult(HER of course!). I don't dislike the restrictions she put on me, those things just aren't appealing to me that's all. I got strong love for my mommy.

Same here, LadyM, although halloween here isn't such a big deal...at least, it wasn't when I was little. My brother, sister and I used to have our own private halloween parties so we never felt like we were missing out ;D

i couldn't go trick or treating either, we had a party at my church called The Hallelujah Party where you got ten times the candy you would trick or treating, so i didn't care.
