"Not much is know about Jack Sparrow beofre he showed up in Tortuga with a mind to go after the treasure of the Isla De Muerta." Here's what we know... ~ Jack got the compass, but we don't know how or where or from whom. ~ He told Barbossa the location of the treasure. "He gave up the bearings." ~ He didn't give Barbossa the compass. So maybe ol' Jack had been there before. We just don't know. Hmmm...yeah, maybe he has been there before...I wonder where the compass came from...Well maybe we will find out.

An interesting theory. Jack knew that Barbossa and company would be heading there, so he could follow the compass and it would lead him to both the ship and the isle... hmmm, that does raise some interesting questions...
Excellent point! ;D

I was reading the Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, The Junior NovelizationAnd it says, and I quote: There you go.. Hmm... now we know that's wrong.... Gah! Well to clear up the whole issue, it points to what you want most. Ha.

Ah, but... until the Isla de Muerta sank, it probably was the thing Jack most wanted... the secret location of ship (when he had lost it), and the secret location of the stone chest (when he had the ship). Eh?
