Hey everyone. I'm not sure if there is already a post like this, but I was wondering why Jack cut his hand before he gave the aztec gold to Will. I have seen this movie soo many times, but I cant seem to figure out a reason why he does that.

Ah, I can help you there. When Jack took the gold from the chest, he cursed himself, making it impossible for Barbossa to kill him (which is good, because Jack got a sword through the gut, remember?)... but when it was time to lift the curse, he had to repay his blood just like everyone else. Jack bled on his piece of gold and Will on his, and when they hit the chest, the curse was broken because all the pieces had been returned with the blood repaid. Got it now?
