Stop Motion Animation is the cinematic process where an armatured, poseable puppet is brought to life on screen by breaking up the figure's motion into increments and filming one frame of film per increment. there are 25 shots in each second. When the final film is projected, the puppet appears to move Naturally. Anyone who is familiar with the films of Tim Burton and others have seen the process at work.
Stop Motion animation Is such a beautiful median to work with in films. Its not the same as seeing a film in cartoon or computer animation. It has such an elegant and Artistic feel to it.
Here you can discuss This median of Animation..tell other films you liked that use the same median, and your thougths on it.
You can discuss the Diffrences artistically and motion wise between the Corpse Bride and the Nightmare before Christmas.

Stop Motion Animation is very awesome. It's so amazing how they move each puppet and take a picture and make it into a movie. My friend told me they use just digital cameras (I'm not sure if that's true or not)
I thought the animation in the Corpse Bride was much better than The Nightmare Before Christmas. Everything flowed a bit more smoothly such as clothes and other things.

But think of that painstaking process! 25 miniscule tweaks, you said? That's incredible. I'd only go through that process if I was looking for genuine satisfaction through hard labor, which most of the time conflicts with my laziness. ;D But it does have a very uniquely beautiful effect, and I can respect why Tim would want to save it.

Lmm, yes they do use digital cameras, but not exactly like the ones we use to take pictures. They're using a digital movie camera, which have a whole lot more resolution so that the picture will be movie screen size. Lol, Artisan!

Yep, some of the camera's they use are the regular sized camera's on regular movie sets, while some are handheld and protable and such. It's pretty dang cool. And I rememebr in a interview Tim was saying how it was much easier for facial expression because in NBC they had about 200 heads for Jack, while for TCB, they had movieable faces and such, and only needed about 8 dolls for each character. With all the 24 shots to a second thing, reminds me of making an animated icon, frame after frame after frame after frame

Yeah, stop-motion is awesome. It gives a really great, unqiue effect, PERFECT for Tim.
They also filmed Johnny and all the actors, while they were voicing in the studio. Just so they could incorporate the actors' expressions into the stop-motion characters. I heard this before I saw the movie so I was shocked to notice Johnny's ever-so-recognisable "shocked" expression in the film a few times! Lol.

I just bought this movie, and I must say..after watching the creation of it..I can imagine just how much hard work goes into making a stop motion film. Needless to say.. I LOVE the film!
