Can you believe, this is the film that started it ALL. All his movies, all his accomplishments, they all stem back to this one little movie. Pretty amazing huh? Actually it all stems back to Nicholas Cage... but that's a whole different off topic story . We won't go there. Johnny wasn't the only actor to have their career started by the Elm Street franchise. The then unknown Patricia Arquette starred in the third Elm Street movie A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. The success of it catapulted her to where she is now. Almost like our Johnny.

Humble beginings, just playing what he was.
Amazing how he's turned it into something he was never looking for, with all the bits that go with it.
Lucky us, that he was so good at it.

It is truly a marvel. I was watching "E!s" Biography on Johnny ...well I'll be darned it must have been 3 or so years ago now, but I have it taped and there is a clip with Wes Craven. He was stating how he brought his daughter to the try outs, and he had another man picked for the role of Glen Lantz, then his daughter pulled at his sleeve and pointed to Johnny saying "Pick him daddy, he's dreamy" The power of young girls and crushes

Yes, he talks all about it in his commentary on the DVD. Apparently his daughter also thought he was a "fox". LOL. My that is a little dated.

No need Roo, I posted the commentary in the ANOES goodies thread. Not that I'm trying to discourage the watching of ANOES

Hehe! ;D I love in one interview with Johnny, they ask about his first film... his reply is something along the lines of "Yeah... I get eaten by a bed." I agree with Roo, DW - fabulous! ;D Especially for a first role, you can already tell the boy's got talent. Though it wasn't the hugest role, it definetely had that special Johnny-flair.

I love that he wanted to do his own special effects! So many actors would say "eww" or "hire my stunt double", but Johnny just dives right in!

I have yet to see this film. I am trying so hard to find all of his movies for my collection. I stopped for a while because I started buying stuff with Sarah Michelle Gellar, Scarlett Johansson, Angelina Jolie, and Vanessa Paradis.

"Introducing Johnny Depp"......
in retrospect, he has nothing to be embarassed about here. He did as well or better than the rest of the cast....and where oh where are any of them now? Celluloid Oblivion.

Pick him daddy, he's dreamy" How right she was. If I ever meet Ms. Craven I'd like to shake her warmly by the hand and tell her I can't thank her enough!
