AWE leaves loads of unanswered questions, don't you agree? That and it's rather confusing to some the first time 'round. So there's bound to be a question or two in your head, no matter how many times you've seen it. Post them here and maybe someone will have the answers you seek! Mine:If Ragetti's wooden eye was Barbossa's piece of eight, then when Barbossa was killed in CotBP shouldn't Ragetti have been a pirate lord? Or did he likely have no idea about the piece of eight altogether? (The fact that T&T hadn't come up with that part during P1, not withstanding. ) [Oh! And did anyone see him carving a new eye at the end when the crew confronted Barbossa about stranding Jack?] Now that William is captain of the Flying Dutchman, is it Will Turner's locker? Or is Davy Jones's locker something specific to Davy Jones and did it cease to exist when Jones was killed? Was it created by the fact that he stopped ferrying the souls? (DJ and Calypso are just a tangled mess of curses and I was never clear on what the locker had to do with any of it.) Ok, your turn! ;D

Maybe it's like in The Princess Bride. "It's the name that's important."

Actually CC...i think i kinda have a few ideas to your questions...
#1 they must have come up with that one just for the 3rd one...because i was watching the first one..and Ragetti has seeems to have no importance of that particular eye...if you remeber he actually wanted a new one because that one.."splinters something terrible.." hehe. and in the third one..he knew of its importance because he said he kept it safe just as barbossa asked. so the peices dont really fit...but it woulda been cool for rogetti to become pirate lord..hehe. ;D
#2 As for Will Turners locker...i think the Locker would just become totally non exsistant anymore. because if you remember in the 3rd one calipsos big thing with Jones was that he didnt do his job the right way...his job was originally to take the lost souls to the land of the dead and bring them peace. but he did his job wrong and didnt keep his promise..he made the souls suffer even more. soooo....the locker was something Davy had of his own...so im guessing when davy died...will took ove his place..proceding to do the job the correct way..without a locker. just my thought. My Question: Why didnt Will automatically turn all ugly and monstery like davy when he tookover. or is that something that occurs over time...like it grows on you ya know?

Davy Jones brought about his own sea creature appearance by not doing his job. Calypso mentions this when Ragetti asks whether he was always tentacle-y Maybe Ragetti did know about the eye and would have kept it safe for Barbossa even if he got a new glass one that didn't splinter ;D
And I reckon Davy Jones' locker disappeared when Davy Jones did. Will certainly wouldn't want or need to torment people for eternity even if he did get the chance to create a locker of his own.
My question: Am I right in thinking that only Barbossa knew the real identity of Tia Dalma until such time as he chose to reveal it?

I would think that if all of the pirate lords had a hand in binding her that they would all know wouldn't they? With the exception of Liz of course.. (answer and question with a question.. )

Okay, I'll give my take on some of these questions. CC If Ragetti's wooden eye was Barbossa's piece of eight, then when Barbossa was killed in CotBP shouldn't Ragetti have been a pirate lord? Or did he likely have no idea about the piece of eight altogether? Weren't the pieces of eight supposed to be handed on to the successor and named Pirate Lord like Sao Feng did to Elizabeth? I think Barbossa just asked him to look after it, he didn't name him a successor. For the Will Turner Locker Davy Jones locker - means the bottom of the sea It had three main rumors of origin. - St David patron saint of sailors - Jones being a derivitive of Jonah (you know the whale story) - A publican who imprisoned sailors in a locker and then pressed ganged them to his ships. So I don't think Will would have had a locker because he let all the crew go free. Craven Why didn't Will automatically turn all ugly and monstery like Davy when he tookover. Or is that something that occurs over time...like it grows on you ya know? Yep like Jay said, he kept doing the job of the Dutchman Captain so didn't get punished. Jay The nine Pirate Lords had to know about Tia Dalma as that is why they formed in the first place so they could take over the seas without Calypsos interference. My question: The compass went back and forth so many times it made my head spin, who started out with it and who got their hands on it in order? ~SS~

The nine pirate lords that assembled in this movie weren't the nine pirate lords who assembled originally though, were they? At least some of them had to be different because Sao Feng said he would never have agreed to imprison Calypso implying that he was not present at the first Brethren Court. Barbossa, whether he was there or not, knew because he was resurrected by Tia Dalma. Gah, so confusing! Oh wow, now that's a question, SS! Jack started out with it, he had it in DJ's locker (right?). It was next seen during the deal making between Beckett and Jack but was not included in their final deal. Jack then gave the compass to Will before he pushed him off the Pearl. Will then used the compass to make a deal with Beckett (leading Beckett to Shipwreck Cove). Hm...now I've lost track of it. Did Will give the compass back to Jack when they had their stand off on the sand bar? He must have given it back to him at some point because Jack has it at the end. I think I need to watch it again.

Yeah, either Will or Beckett tossed it back to Jack on the sandbar.

*head spinning* What have I started? Ragetti: When Sao Feng gave Liz his piece of eight, he told her "You are now Captain." He didn't tell her she was the new pirate lord. I think the giving of the piece of eight is what makes the new pirate lord. So then Ragetti should have been a pirate lord, only I'll bet Barbossa never told him about any of that. Tentacles: Yes, Tia Dalma said that he used to be a man, but he didn't do the job and that's why he's all tentacle-y. Apparently that extends to the crew, which kinda brings up a new question actually. See below. Calypso's identity: Aye, the original Brethren Court was held looooooong ago. I can't remember why I think that (there must have been a reference somewhere), but none of the current 9 would have even been born from what I gathered. And it is quite possible that the passing down of pieces of eight didn't necessarily include the true identity of Calypso. I'm not sure whether anyone but Barbossa knew or not... good one, Jay. The Locker: (Aye, SS, that's what it means really, but the lore of the POTC world has made it more than that, seeing as how Jack was in there and not at the bottom of the sea. It's also interesting to note that the Flying Dutchman is also a real myth but it has nothing to do with Davy Jones- it's ghost ship that cannot make port but once every ten years.) Ok, I'm starting to believe that it is indeed something specific to Davy Jones and that it is gone along with him. It's likely linked to the whole not-doing-the-job thing. Because if he's not taking souls to the other side, he's got to have somewhere to put them, eh? Compass: Beckett tosses it back to Jack at the parley on the sandbar, aye! Will had apparently given it to Beckett. NEW ONE:If Will is doing the job on the Dutchman, and he let Davy Jones' crew go, then does he now have a crew besides Bootstrap? Does the Dutchman even need a real crew or is it supernatural enough to sail itself... underwater...? Not really a question, because I know the answer, but... But did you notice that Norry's sword has been on almost as much of an adventure as Jack's compass? And did you see how that sword ended up?

Thankee, Cap'n ;D And you've started something awesome, everyone needs answers. I was wondering about that! Hmm...no real way to answer that, is there? Would be pretty lonely with just Will and Bootstrap but I guess they have a lot of catching up to do I'm presuming there is a crew, but that they don't stay for the entire ten years like Will has to. It has garnered much praise on its journey too. ;D Everyone who sees it ends up admiring it. I loved that it was the weapon that killed Will...funny old world, innit? I don't know what happened to it after that though.

Did anyone notice how when Elizabeth mentions the Dutchman during the meeting of the Court, that Mistress Chang mutters something about "the plague ship"? Because that's one of the stories about why the Dutchman is always wandering, lost at sea. Any ship with the plague on board wouldn't have been allowed to dock anywhere. Not really a question, because I know the answer, but... But did you notice that Norry's sword has been on almost as much of an adventure as Jack's compass? And did you see how that sword ended up? You mean how Will eventually got his sword back? NEW ONE:If Will is doing the job on the Dutchman, and he let Davy Jones' crew go, then does he now have a crew besides Bootstrap? Does the Dutchman even need a real crew or is it supernatural enough to sail itself... underwater...? Did anyone else think that when they're doing the whole "up is down" thing and the water is rushing up at them, that it looks kinda like what the Dutchman looks when it's doing its whole underwater thing? I wonder if that's the principle behind how the Dutchman gets around.

*snarf* Oh, and yes I did mean how Will got his sword back... I felt like a goof the second time I saw the movie, because I didn't notice that the first time! And there's that shot where the delibrately show that it's that sword and I missed it. Bah, oh well, glad I noticed anyway.

Sao Fang thought that Liz was Calypso, so obviously not many of them knew.
Barbossa does say in the movie something about there not being a meeting in their lifetime.... Implying that none of them were the pirate lords that trapped Calypso.
These are all great questions.... I can't wait for the DVD to just watch all three in a row... =D
