Oooh, Pirates marathon. I lime the sound of that! ;D *seeing it again tomorrow! * Not so much a question, more of a musing... I wonder what Elizabeth was doing for those 10 years while raising her son. She had been the governor's daughter and hadn't done any work her whole life (not that she couldn't-she's a tough gal- she just doesn't have any known skills besides butt-kicking). Perhaps being the pirate king has certain perks? Maybe she has access to some loot somewhere... I imagine she had a hefty inheritance but she wasn't really welcome back in Port Royale, now was she? Just pondering...

Lol, yeah that's what it means. I can see how that could be hard to get seeing how many times the pronunciation is butchered. NEW QUESTION:Why does Calypso create the maelstrom? Davy Jones at once knows that it's her, and he seems to be enjoying the rain on his face (like it was her touching him). He also tells the crew to go on in- that she won't harm them. And the maelstrom ends almost instantly after he dies and falls into the middle of it. So was she trying to get him? Or help him?

And the maelstrom ends almost instantly after [Jones] dies and falls into the middle of it. So was she trying to get him? Or help him? She was pretty smeeped at him when she found out just how much he'd betrayed her. I mean, she was all sad that he'd turned his back on the job she'd given him, but when she found out about him telling the pirate lords how to bind her? That was one angry goddess.

But in the brig of the Black Pearl, he tells her that his heart belongs to her, and she seems really pleased there.
Course then there's the whole Will-asking-her-who-betrayed-her-as-she-becomes-herself-again thing. She did seem pretty smeeped off there.

I think it was her intention to blitz the Brethren Court until Will let slip that it was actually Davy who told them how to imprison her in the first place. She was then torn, who should she destroy? Instead of choosing a side, she decided to become neutral, creating the maelstrom with her crazy crab army and watching events to see how they played out. In short, I don't think she was trying to help or hinder Davy Jones, as she loves him but hates him for betraying her. Why create the maelstrom at all? Coz it's pretty And she had been separated from the sea for a long time so maybe she needed to express herself in ocean form. Now what I'm curious about is, did Davy Jones cut out his heart as part of the ferrying the dead arrangement? Or did he cut out his heart after Calypso betrayed him?

Yeah, I'm a little fuzzy on that part as well. Will even asks him after which betrayal did he cut out his heart... but when Will becomes captain of the Dutchman, the crew cut out his heart for him. Where does the heart thing come into the equation? We know the Dutchman needs a living heart and it needs a captain. So did Davy cut out his heart because of Calypso or because that goes with the job?

I think that perhaps cutting Will's heart out was the only way to keep him alive.

For it to make sense to me, I see it as Davy Jones cutting his heart out after Calypso's betrayal of not being there for him after 10 years, and that became like a tradition for the next captains of the ship. After the legend of Davy Jones, the captain with no heart, in order to captain the Flying Dutchman after him, you need to cut out your heart aswell. And well, the crew did it for Will because he was dying heh. And the whole Maelstrom thing, when the rain was on Davy Jone's face, I thought he looked rather sad, as if he knew he would have to endure "calypso's fury" through the upcoming battle.
