Is this the first on it's kind on JA? Not sure.  Anyhow, this is the thread for all those little bits and pieces that you noticed in AWE. I've mentioned a couple that I've posted in other threads, but it's nice to put all these together sometimes, eh? And I'm sure that I'm not the only one who's seen things going on in the background or caught little hidden jokes. So post the ones you've seen right here. In case you didn't see them posted elsewhere, here's some of mine: Did you notice... - that Ragetti was carving a new wooden eye at the end when they confonted Barbossa about stranding Jack? - that (as Psnoo put it) Will got his sword back in the end? - the extra Jack in the locker scene who's wearing the sash like a diaper? Here's some new ones that I haven't posted yet: Did you notice... - that in Singapore, Mercer accidentally killed the one lady when Will pushed Liz out the way... and then later, right before Will and Sao Feng strike their deal, he kills the other one on purpose? - that the goat in the locker scene is a continuation of the "And a goat" joke from the writer's commentary on DMC? OK, your turn. What should we look for the next time we see it?  |

Did you notice that when Barbossa is arguing with Elizabeth over trading Jack for Will, that Elizabeth's response is "King" much in the same way Jack proclaims "Pirate" in CotBP? Though, I for one think she could have gotten a bit more attitude into the word.
Or what about when Jack's in Davy Jones' locker and complaining about no wind...and there's a bit of his hair moving in a breeze?

Okay, did you notice that Raggetti is looking through the floor boards up at Elizabeth with his wooden eye?

Lol, yes I did! I was starting to wonder if he's really learned to see out of it.  ^ Psnoo, I did notice the 'King' line seemed to harken back to the 'Pirate' line. Didn't notice that his hair was blowing, lol. Did you notice that the bowl of pieces of eight starts floating in mid-air once it catches fire? I didn't catch that until the 3rd viewing... |

Did I notice? To "notice" I'd have to have actually seen this movie. Which I haven't. I have not seen POTC3. I swear I'm like the only person on the PLANET who hasn't. OK that's not true. My parents haven't seen it. Neither has my aunt Cathy. Or my grandparents. But that's not the point. I HAVEN'T SEEN POTC3. And why? No one will go see it with me. Does someone want to fly over here and watch it with me? I'll pay for your movie ticket!  Anywho... go back to discussing this movie. I am WAY off topic. Sorry. But what's a girl to do when she hasn't seen POTC3?  |

DREAM!  You better stay outta here if you haven't seen it, love!  Hey, I'll go see it with you. Just call me on the phone, and I'll listen along, lol. No really, there's no shame in going alone. I've gone by myself 2 of my 4 times. It's worth it in the end, I promise. Back on-topic. Did you notice... ~THIS?! Look at this picture. And look at Jack's belt on the right side (his left)- hanging underneath his hand... it's his mum! I read somewhere that you can see it again in Tortuga at the end of the movie... but I couldn't find a pic that showed it.  Ah Jack, I love ye mate. Let's face facts. Did you notice... ... that Jack's scarf is torn where Barbossa cut off the piece of eight charm? Look!  ... that Jack gets a new charm at the end of the movie to replace the one that was his piece of eight? See?  I just love that attention to detail. ;D |

Yes, Dream, go see it on your own, it's so worth it! You will not even know you're there all by your onesie once the movie starts.
Did you all notice the references to the other pirate movies, but also to other Johnny movies? I'd love to tell you all about it, but is this the right thread to do it? If not, please point me to the right direction!

C, let's hear it. That's exactly what this thread is for!  5th viewing down last night, and I did see Jack's mum in the Tortuga scene. In fact, when Jack is standing over Gibbs sleeping with his teddy bear (HAHA!), it's taking up the right half of the screen! Not inclined to believe the new charm is a Kraken tooth. It's got some carving on it near the top... truth be told it looks a bit like Barbossa's earring. |

I don't know, I like the kraken tooth theory. As for the black bands on it, looks like scrimshaw to me. And for that all you need is a bit of ivory or bone and some ink. It'd be easy enough to throw on those tribal-ish patterns. |

Oh, I like the idea of a kraken tooth being his new charm. Didn't have a good look at it, though, too distracted by Jack's face. Now I have to go see the movie again! (any excuse ... haha) So, a couple of references to other Johnny movies: (MAYBE YOU SHOULD NOT BE READING THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED ALL OF HIS MOVIES.............................SO LOOK AWAY.................SPOILERS.......................SPOILERS...........................................SPOILERS.........................) 1. The chicken/rooster bit from Arizona Dream. 2. Multiple Jacks like multiple Morts in Secret Window. 3. The goat from the Brave 4. The pies, obviously a reference to Sweeney Todd. Also a couple of things connecting the three pirate movies, like the dog with the keys, Will's sword, but also the toe breaking ofF refering to Jack's toe necklace, Will breaks of a little thingie dangling on top of the globe in Beckett's cabin refering to both the first and second movies and breaking the candle sticks and at the beginning when someone is running over a bridge in Singapore completely in Jack style from the first movie. Did you notice when Jack is in the locker and he does his little speech about the garden party, his little giggle at the end of his sentence? So Willy Wonka!
