I just thought of a connection between Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Sweeney Todd, and Edward Scissorhands. Well for one, Tim Burton... But also Sweeney stands at his window staring down at Fleet Street, Edward stands at his hole in the ceiling staring down at the "utopia" that ended up hating him, and Charlie was in his bed staring at the factory through the hole in his wall. Did any other character do this? I don't remember... I bet all of you already thought about this....

I didn't think of it! That's a good observation It must be a Tim Burton thing, looking out on a world where you don't belong or something. All of those characters are on the outside of society for whatever reason.

It happened in Sleepy Hollow too, I believe. Ichabod was looking down in the street before he released the cardinal I think.

Oh yeah, and Katrina looked out the window when Ichabod was leaving Sleepy Hollow.

I didn't notice that either. It's awesome you noticed that, though. I would've never caught on... The only thing I notice in JD's flicks are how hott he is. But yeah, I also agree with the Burton thing. He wrote those characters as outcasts, which is what he's always thought of himself, so the metaphorical aspect of 'looking out on a world where you don't belong' to makes a lot of sense to me.
