Wow Fiend, you defiently had the most interesting Dark Knight experience out of anyone I'm sure. I'm happy you got to see it in the end.

It was definitely an experience but also definitely worth the wait. I think I'm going go go see it again tomorrow if only for the Candy Striper scene. -Fiend

I was thinking on the Joker more, and I talked to my dad about the movie and all the things he'd heard about it and I've reached a conclusion. Having grown up on the cheesy Batman movies, it's hard to take the series seriously anyway. I like Jack Nicholson and respect him immensely, but his Joker is just that: a clown. I think if he'd played it more like Randall P MacMurphy meets Jack Torrence, that'd be a recipe for absolute brilliance. But that's not what that movie needed; it needed a goofy villain, which Nicholson played to the hilt. Ledger, on the other hand was that brand of MacMurphy/Torrence crazy. He brings the credibility that this particular series needs, because this series is Batman grown up, gone to college and got a job as an accountant who secretly loves to blow stuff up on the weekends. Which is why it's not my favourite. I love the cheese, the Adam West and the Bat-Shark Repellent, the Michael Keaton and the dorkiness. But Ledger works with these movies because he is serious (despite what he says) and a little bit scary. This franchise is all about lending credibility to the Batman; the belief that...wow...this could happen, couldn't it? Ledger works. In the end, it's the difference between Cherry Coke and Coke Classic. They're both great drinks; I just like Coke Classic better. (And Harvey Dent. >.> I love me some Harvey Dent.)

I went to see TDK before I went away but didn't have time to post my opinion in here so here goes... Surprisingly, although I enjoyed watching it, there was something about it that left me a little cold...and I think that something goes by the name of Christian Bale. I don't rate him as an actor at all and I absolutely the ridiculous voice he puts on when he's all suited up. I don't think he's good enough to carry a film and it showed. Having said that, I enjoyed every scene the Joker was in, thought it was brilliant that they killed a main character (even if they brought another one back to life!), and enjoyed the numerous car chases. Some of the close up camera work got a bit tiresome, especially when they're using handheld cameras to make you feel like you're there...I don't really want to feel like I'm there, I want to see what's going on! So I agree with whoever said that the fight scenes should have been more panoramic. I don't think Heath Ledger will be awarded an Oscar, that kind of role never wins that kind of award, but he will probably pick up a host of fan voted awards and they're more important anyway . He could have had a more dramatic exit from the film...it was a bit of an anti-climax, I felt. Other than that, he was suitably creepifying...the magic trick Alfred was awesome too, but Michael Caine always is I don't think I'll be watching it again until comes out on DVD but I expect it will improve with a second viewing.

I saw this a few weeks ago and it left me with a mix of emotions. Heath blew me away, what a bloody fantastic actor.. he deserves that Oscar! Although i have a funny feeling he won't get it. They never award the right people..... Anyway, back to Batman. I agree ^ about Bale's voice. It was really unessesary to use that deep voice, it's beyond annoying! Urghhh. I can't rate him as an actor cos i haven't seen a lot of his films.. but he didn't do much for me in this.
Gary Oldman *le sigh* i only went to see it for him originally.. i went in an Oldman fan and came out an Oldman AND Ledger fan! #love#

Why didn't someone working on the movie tell Christian Bale that?! Silly. Seen it a third time yet, Wonderkins?

Ah, the joys of going to the cinema. I don't understand why people bring little kids to inappropriate movies...it spoils it for them and for everybody else. Waiting for things is a lost art.
