Hi,
Just saw it. It was so good!!! It didn't make me cry though! I felt bad for her though.

Hmmm...I wasn't a fan of this film. I thought it was visually stunning but I wanted to see Keira given a more demanding role. The Duchess of Devonshire was famous for her political career (in an era when women were not permitted to have any career at all) and for her fashion...the former was not covered at all by the film and the latter was not dealt with well, in my opinion.
I didn't like the forced parallels between the Duke/Duchess and Charles/Diana. I think it weakened the story. I didn't feel much for any of the characters which was a shame.

Yeah, my mum had the same thoughts as you Jay. Personally i think the director was in love with Keira. So many close ups! It would've been better if the director had focused on more important points rather than just Keira's face... she's a fantastic actress.. hopefully her next film will focus more on her acting abilities. I'll definitely buy the dvd when it's released because i love Keira

Yeah, definitely some directorial issues there. I hope her next role stretches her a bit more. She's so much more than a pretty face, and we see enough of her on adverts/posters. We need to see the actress more and the face less!
