has been on fire since about 4:20 this morning. I got up at like 10 this morning and went on my myspace and one of my friends statuses was 'Fire, fire! The whole downtown is closed because of a fire' so I went to one of the news channels and there was a video. It was still on fire when I went to class this morning so downtown is one big traffic jam. anyways, a couple of links KCCI theres a couple of videos here that are on the front page. Luckily they got the fire out around 3 yesterday afternoon. The buildings that were on fire are a complete loss. and they still have the road closed down there so getting to and from school was still fun.

Queen,
the fire is still under investigation, and it may never be known how the fire was started exactly. They think it was started in one of the apartments on the second floor of the building.
Iso,
well Im pretty sure all of the ice that was caused from the hoses putting out the fire has thawed (the weather has been BEAUTIFUL lately) but the block is still closed, and it will be closed for awhile. I saw a bulldozer around there, so I think they are getting ready to start tearing the building down. Supposedly the owner of the restauraunt wants to relocate to where another restaurant that went out of business was.

It's kind of strange how a really big fire can get started in the middle of winter. You'd think it would be too cold, and fire likes the heat. The weather has been really nice here too. February has been awesome so far.  Apparently, there was a really bad fire in Australia too. About 181 people have died. I hope all our Aus. friends on JA are ok. |

ah I feel bad for the people who have lost everything and for the people who have died in the brushfire is Australia..
The other day there was a house fire at a really really nice house in one of the bigger towns in the state that I live in, the house was completely destroyed..they showed on the news all that was left was basically the foundation of the building.

dont worry everyone Im safe so anyways, today they were taking stuff out of the building that had a fire in my town. And I think they are going to start tearing it down soon. it will be strange to see this gap since all of the buildings are like basically connected. |
