I truely hope this doesn't offend anyone. I am personally a catholic (though I'm not overly fond of being one) but I found this hugely amusing. They have almost all of the Johnny depp movies but the one's for Chocolate and Secret Window had to be the funniest ones by far. www.capalert.com/now_playing.htm (this is as far as I can take you on the libraries computer) Now go onto the link click on all analyses and search for any JD movie. They make Chocolat seem like it was the first movie ever to show a sex scene in a pg-13 movie. But that's not where the funny-ness ends. Hope I didn't offend anyone one of the Christian faith by this.

OMG! You've got to be kidding me! They can't be serious! You could say that they slightly exaggerated, don't you think? I mean, if some people wouldn't approve of a movie like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas I could understand. But Chocolat?

Thanks for the link, drouxl. Very interesting read... I can definitely see where they're coming from. I was actually a little surprised by the scene with Vianne's parents myself. There are a couple of spots in that review that I thought did go a little overboard. But on the whole, I think they're right about the content versus the rating.

Look at the review for E.T.!!! They consider "Riding off a cliff" a violent act! Sheesh!

Wow, that really was a good laugh. I especially loved the seperate lists at the very end of the Chocolat review you pointed out. Completely ridiculous. They even made note of things like "dog mounting dog." Sorry. I'll... I'll stop. *stumbles away in giggles*

Heh. I had printed that off for an essay I'm doing for english class. Cameron pulled it out of my POTC folder and went straight to the lists that was waht he narrowed in on....what a guy.

Lol!
I think it's actually too bad that they make such strict rules. I mean, movies are for entertainment/learning and such. By making all these rules there's not much left anymore, now is there?

Not in their book, apparently. I bet even Finding Nemo lost points for the silliest things. Silly smeepers.

It's not their opinions it's God's opinions.....how bizarre is that?

Pretty cult-like, if you ask me. I just can't dig that kind of stuff.

I just don't get it either.. Oh well, it's their decision and it's their loss really. I mean, there's so much Johnny-goodness they miss out on!

I think they would have a case if Chocolat was rated any lower. Some films, in my opinion, need to be more strongly rated but not Chocolat. I know that religion is a subject that has to be handled sensitively but at no point did any of the characters give up their faith. They simply allowed themselves to break out of the rigid pattern of behaviour that society had forced them into; it was not a film that promoted strong anti-religious sentiments. If it had been then I could see why certain people might have been offended...but that does not mean such a film should not have been made. Reality should not be censored. Interesting reading, drouxl, very interesting.
