Relive the movie, live on stage!
Matthew Bourne and New Adventures (Swan Lake) are back with a magical new adaptation of the classic Tim Burton motion picture Edward Scissorhands. A treat for the whole family, this touching and witty gothic fairytale tells the story of a boy created by an eccentric inventor. With only scissors for hands, Edward must find his place in a strange new suburban world where the well-meaning community struggles to see past his appearance to the innocence and gentleness within. This musical without words is a must-see event you won't want to miss!
“Matthew Bourne tells a story with extraordinary zest and originality. Nobody does it better”
Los Angeles Times
“Just bring your ears and eyes and marvel at the inventions of Mr. Bourne's theatrical imagination”
New York Times
This was in my town over my birthday and I was fortunate enough to be able to go and meet the cast members. Edward himself picked me up as he did with Kim in one of the dance numbers! I was in complete shock! Then there was a 2 hour pre-performance discussion with the creators of the dance/musical and a 2 hour post-performance discussion. You can imagine this little Swiss girl had the microphone asking lots of questions ... it was sensational and I was able to see it two days in a row because my mom was sick and supposed to go with me, but my father took me instead, and I told her hoooow good it was when I got home (would not shut-up-style) and so she got online, bought tickets and we went that next day too! There I saw a different man getting his makeup on as Edward and said "You weren't here last night..." and he smiled, and the man who switches off roles with him came out from the curtain, "but you are, my little Kim" he smiled... ;D
For each role they have 2 people and the entire cast travels from England but it has now come to an end after 8 years in the making
*Did I mention the Edwards gave me a signed poster for free? I'll have to take a photo as it is too big to scan
