Here is the thing I don't want another horror story like what happened with the Libertine.
Backstory:
I went to see the Libertine and I really didn't think it was gonna be bad cause I did do some research and I have seen rated-R movies before and it was no big deal. But I ended up closing my eyes and being grossed out it was not fun. I was 17 and I really should have waited until I was way older.
Now here is the problem
I don't want a repeat of it with Sweeney Todd, I know its gonna be bloody. I don't like blood, all those Saw movies and things like that I don't like that its gross to me. And I get really freaked out and I have nightmares about it. So my question is Will Sweeney Todd be really bloodly? cause I really really wanna see it.

Starfire,
It is an R for Graphic Bloody violence. Thats what it says on the website anyway. I'm expecting to be a little grossed out. We'll see.

Yes, it will be very bloody. How about you wait for someone you trust to see it first (another Angel perhaps)? They can tell you the level of violence you can expect then you can make your own informed decision. If in doubt, I reckon you'd be better off waiting to see it when you're ready

Yes, there will be blood! Tonight on VH1's special, Alan Rickman commented that it should have its own spot on the credits because it's used so much. I'm not saying this to ward you off from seeing Sweeney Todd, I'm a bit squeamish meself, but I think if you can over look the graphic nature of the film and really settle in on the characters - particularly those of Todd and Lovett, you'll be just fine.

I'm gonna go with Jay and wait for someone to see it. And tell me how bloody it really is and watch the thing on VH1. Thanks for your help.

Yep, Sweeny Todd is a bloody story by nature. You're wise to wait, m'dear.

I know someone who watched it yesterday in a preview and she told me it wasn't just the blood (which is a lot) but other stuff too, like the way the bodies land on their heads falling down to the basement. Not a pretty sight!
Tim went over the top with this one. Sorry if I disappoint you, maybe you should stay away, at least for a while.
I hope I can give you more details, but the film will not be out here before the end of January. I know the play, so if you think I can help more just PM me, 'k?

The level of violence was about an 8, and if you let it, it can squick you. But the blood was a little too thick and the violence was at the Sleepy Hollow level of hilarity that even though I couldn't watch the razor blades to the neck every time I could oddly watch the blood drip out because blood just doesn't squirt in real life. 0;)
Tim does seem to have a kink of sorts when it comes to splattering Johnny with copious amounts of too thick, but not ketchup thick blood.

I saw the midnight showing yesterday and it was pretty gruesome. The spurting blood wasn't too bad at least for me, the only really wicked ones are the very first killing and one of the last commited by Sweeney. However, the way the bodies fall on their heads they make this terrible thudding noise that just makes you cringe. I'm used to horror movies and I still cringed a little. Best advice, just close your eyes when you know it's coming.
Actually, most of it is over the course of the Johanna reprise. However, most of those aren't as bad as the first and last. I wouldn't let the blood stop you from seeing the film though. It was brilliant.

It's not open yet in my town, but it sounds like you should avoid it, dear star, unless you're quick on the draw with closing your eyes.
