I bought Shantaram yesterday and have
not been able to put it down.
Weight training and reading all at once,
993 pages.
(the book is heavy)
This is the book Johnny bought the rights to
for Infinitum Nihil and is supposed to be
playing the lead and narrating.
I have to quote a little passage from
the first chapter as it had me giggling
on the floor after reading it.
Lindsay (main character) nearly got hit by a bus,
but was dragged clear by a girl.
***
‘I leaned towards her, looking behind her
to the left and then to the right.
What is it? she asked.
I’m looking for your wings.
You are my guardian angel, aren’t you?
I’m afraid not, she replied, her cheeks
dimpling with a wry smile. Theres too
much of the devil in me for that.
Just how much devil, I grinned,
are we talking about here?’
***
I love this book.
~edit~
I just finished reading it.
This guy has been through the [glow=brown,2,300]LOT[/glow]
everything that could go wrong in his life, did go wrong, but there was a positive to everything that happened even though it was shown in a totally unrelated way.
The book was an amazing adventure and he is a very talented writer.
It made me laugh until the neighbors complained, it made me cry in anguish, it made me open my eyes to a bigger world, it made me into an even bigger optimist.
I loved it with my whole heart, I hated it with a vengence. Its the best book I have ever read.
Do yourself a favour and get a hold of this book and read it, whatever you seek, it will give you a glimpse of it.
Linbaba my antihero
No wonder Johnny snapped up the rights to it and wants to play the lead role, it has everything he could possibly look for in a character, I am already counting sleeps to watch this film, it makes me break out in a sweat just thinking about it.
