AAAAH!! I just saw the movie and it was sooooo awesome! I love Mort! Sure he killed four people and a dog but I didn't really like Ted and Amy anyway. Just Kidding. Although Mort obviously had some problems within his own mind he was still an amazing character. No one would think he was crazy until the end when there are three of him, because of the acting. It was great.

THE HIGH FLYER'S TRIP TO THE MOVIES TO WATCH "THE SECRET WINDOW" *Beware, contains spoliers* It's 7:43 and I'm rushing through the traffic of people who have no life and are just standing in front of the movie theater for no reason. I finally get to the ticket person thingy and manage to gasp out "Secret Window for 7:45 please!" She replies "There are only 3 seats left, and theyre all the way in the front, do you still want the 7:45's or the 9:20s?" I think it through my head, more comfort, or seeing Johnny right away? Wow, such a hard decision, cough. "No its alright, I'll manage," I say with a smile. I pay for the ticket and she gives em over. I rush inside, get it cut, and finally get inside the actual theater. DANG it's packed! I walk over to a seat at the edge in the very first row. It's in the previews, and in a few minutes, the movie starts. When Johnny's name comes up, us fangirls in the crowd screeched ;D Mort is the first person to appear on screen, in his car. Once again, it's the fangirls cue to scream "JOHNNY! GAHH! JOHNNY!!"... Then a guy in the back goes "AH GAWD JOHNNY YER SO SEXY!" Luckily for me, I'm seated next to a critic. All through the sex scene, and up until it says "6 Months Later" and Mort's sleeping, while the door is being banged on, she says "*yawns loudly* Very slow beginning" I was so close to punching her face in, We laugh at the mountan dew part, we say "Awww" when it goes close up on Chico [and Mort ] More laughter gained from Johnny, more gasp gained from Johnny, and I gotta say, at the part where you see Mort first taken over as Shooter, with the hat on, and behind the door, all I could say was "OMG HE LOOKS SO GOOD!" while everyone else in the crowd was gasping. Ending, was GRRREAT. He totally earned swoons from me and the others in the crowd with the glasses and braces, and bright orange shirt. Overall, this movie was just...totally...what do you think?

Our theater was sold out. You know the first shot, well the entire theater was screaming when Johnny came up for about a minute. It was hilarious. Only when the dialogue started and some guy screamed "Shut up" everyone quieted down. I had a few cheers in there myself on that first shot. ;D
I loved the part when his leg was asleep, and the driving the car over the cliff, and the entire ending, oh heck...I loved every second of this movie!!!

I have to say, I'm shocked, but this is one of the few movies that I think was a vast improvement over the original book. I really think they did a fantastic job--especially with the ending!!! (sorry, SP!!!) I remember in the book being totally sad that Mort died. The idea, I think, was that he was already dead, Shooter having taken over. But I didn't like losing my protagonist, even if he was crazy. And I thought the epilogue was weak. The movie is slow-starting, but it picks up pretty darn quickly about 20 minutes in. Hmmm...better than "Pirates"? You can't really compare the two. Pirates is a high adventure, Window is a psychological thriller. Chico, however, was not an improvement over Bump the cat. I think Bump would've served the story much better. ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE CRAZY SCENE where Mort is talking with himself. Seeing himself backwards in the mirror was FANTASTIC. I also liked the idea of Shooter becoming Shoot Her. I'm so proud because I had thought that was where the book was going and then Steven never did anything with it. Although...he still didn't shoot her. Loved the very last image, too. Crunch. All in all...

Well at the end, Mort kills Amy and Ted, and he burys them in the garden, where corn stalks are growing now. Everyone knows he muredered them, but they can't find the bodies. So the sheriff askes him to not come to town anymore for his shopping, it made people feel uncomfortable. So at the end, he lives, and he says "When time comes, her death will be a mystery, even to me", as the camera slows goes down to the garden and to the corn stalk. And then suddenly CRUNCH you see Mort bite into an ear of corn, and then its over...I WANNA SEE IT AGAIN!!

Hey all! Well, I know I mostly lurk here... but I went to see Secret Window last night and thought I'd give a little review. I won't give away any major plot spoilers so you can read w/out worry. I must say that I REALLY enjoyed the movie. I love thrillers, and to see JD in a thriller/mystery like this was great. I had read a couple reviews about how the ending was predictable... well for me this was not at all the case (of course, I've never read the book so if you have that might change. I don't know). I'm not giving the ending away because, after all, 'the only thing that really matters is the ending... it's the most important part of the story' but I will say it's a twist. I could tell that most of my fellow movie goers were equally shocked by the ending, judging by the murmering and one of the people muttering 'holy sh*t' behind me as a twist was revealed. Secret Window never became boring, and held my attention all the way through. I know the two people who went w/ me said the same thing, they loved the movie and never saw the ending coming. Johnny's acting is excellent throughout the movie. He had absolutely no trouble carrying the load of the entire film, as it's pretty much him alone the entire time. There are quite a few laughs in the film, pretty much all innitiated by JD and they were great. I think Johnny's quirkiness really gave the movie a more "new" feel in an otherwise fairly pat genre. Like I read someone else say, you find yourself laughing in all the wrong places but it's not just you but the whole theatre... which is great, I think. You don't expect a lot of comedy in a film like this, but Johnny does do some great comedy in this mostly as he's muttering to himself alone or w/ his (soon to be) ex-wife and her lover. Johnny's got some great and memorable dialogue throughout the film, like when he's trying to not smoke (as he insists he doesn't anymore and is trying to give it up) his last solitary cigarette, but finally caves and mutters to himself "I don't care... I just don't care. I'm smoking. As a matter of fact I'm going down to the store, buying another pack and I'm gunna smoke the sh*t out of those too.' and 'I killed a mirror. ... And my shower door.' and the exchanges with Ted(dy) were a hoot as well, 'You're rubbernecking. He's rubbernecking. Rubbernecker!' I am always amazed by how much Johnny can change himself for each role, and how different each role is from the last. His character Mort comes off layered and just when you think he's become predictable another part of his personality pops out, which helps keep you envolved throughout the entire film. Despite the bed head and tattered robe he looks smeep fine throughout the film too. Not to mention he's in every scene... it doesn't get much better than that. The movie's got some "jumpy" moments, especially when he's alone in his house, and the opening scene before the title credits is drama (as the movie goes on it delves into what happened in that scene more and more). There are a few sorta gory moments, but nothing major, and having seen other Stephen King adaptations I can say that the filmmakers could have went way farther on the gore than they did, but I'm glad they didn't as it wasn't needed. It's hard to classify this movie in any one genre as it had Thriller, Drama, Comedy, Mystery and Suspence all roled into one. It's rated PG-13, so there isn't a lot of gore or violence... no nudity at all, and very little swear words. Only the S word two or three times if I recall, and the F word once towards the end. There's a little gore, but like I said before, not a whole lot... a lot less than in OUATIM. What I'm trying to get at is, I definitely recommend this movie! I know I'll be going to see it at least one more time in the theater. I recommend seeing it with a full house if you can... it's a lot of fun that way w/ the mix of laughter and jumpyness roled into one with a twisty ending. There couldn't be any more Johnny in the film since he's in every scene (oh, except one...) and that's just alright by me. Go see it if/when you can! ~Scarlett "...but obviously Mr. Rainey minds." ~Lawyer "Oh yes, Mr. Rainey minds. Mr. Rainey minds a LOT." ~Mort Rainey www.worldzone.net/film/agentsands/
