SS, I love you! ;D I can't believe you've finally seen it What dedication! Don't get me started on Jack Davenport...you have no idea how happy I was when the Earl shouted at him The phrase 'one trick pony' suits him down to the ground. The dude who plays Cutler Beckett was in it too, DMC was a bit of a Libertine reunion I didn't notice the stuffed monkey! An excuse to watch it again Charles II was the Earl with boundaries, as far as I can glean from all the literature I've read. I loved seeing John Malkovich and Johnny Depp together so I think I might have viewed his performance through rose tinted glasses. I think he did a good job in showing the difference between a man embracing responsibility and a man who flatly refused to do any such thing. Johnny's accent was wonderful. England would readily adopt him There were a few times when he seemed to struggle to sustain it...but not enough for me to wince . If you can shout in another accent you're doing pretty well ;D Mmm, yeah, I love this film!

Hello all. My first venture in here, it seems. Finally saw this film. I knew what I was getting into when I picked it up at the video store, but I couldn't bring myself to put it down. I just had to see for myself, and despite several thwarts from my DVD player... four days later I had seen all of the movie. I won't even discuss the raunch factor - we all know about that by now, and I was fully aware of that when I rented it. I was tickled to see so many familiar faces in this film! It was like the casts of POTC:DMC and Pride and Prejudice all met on The Libertine. (Only person missing was Kiera, lol.) I thought the story was very interesting, but I think the best part was the prologue/epilogue. I took away several meanings from that. Do I like him? Well, yes and no.

Yes and no A completely acceptable answer, of course, and quite understandable. I'm glad you saw it, CC! I didn't think you would "I look upon a pinhead and see angels dancing..."

So, I saw it for the 1st time yesturday afternoon... ;D
It was great! Johnnys performance was excellent! I'm going to watch it again today... there were a few little things that I didn't quite understand(as with nearly every movie I watch), so I just need to get those cleared up but otherwise, the Libertine was outstanding!

I didn't think I would either, lol, but I'm glad I did. And truth be told, it really wasn't quite as bad as I thought it would be. Lol. To clarify my 'yes and no'... He does not want me to like him... but I, in fact, ended up liking him just because he doesn't want me to like him. I liked that most about him. *snicker*

I think it had to be cut a lot before anybody would show it, unfortunate in some ways because I want to know what the original plan was Good for you, CC. ;D
