I do, and then I don't. He stood for a lot of things I don't agree with, but even with all that he did have some redeeming qualities. So I went with undecided.

;D Thanks for voting, BM. I can understand where you're coming from...in some ways he's too easy to love, when he should be too easy to hate .

Yes I did. He was gross perverted had no moral values, yet I adored his smug arse. There is no real explanation for it. He completely squicked me out and therefore I liked him. Plus when he asked it he sounded so depressed that I wanted to hug him.

I like him because he was himself and he didn't pretend to be something that he wasn't. He didn't care what people thought of him. I felt so sorry for him at the end even though he brought it on himself... i really wanted to give him a hug

I have to say yes. I admit, yes, he was pretty evil sometimes but he just had a great mind, he could be a little funny at times and I could see Johnny underneath it all, and i can't hate johnny lol. Also, i felt so sorry for him at then end, i've watched it a few times & every time it had me in tears.

Wow! Yes, it does look like it. But do they really like him? Or just Johnny and his brilliant acting?

You really didn't? That really is too bad.. I think it was brilliant, Johnny did such an outstanding job on this movie. I just totally bought it! Perhaps you can watch it another time? Sometimes I'm not really fond of a movie the first time I see it and then the second time I like it a lot better. I don't know, like I think he did do an excellent job...but I just couldn't deal with the whole storyline...I don't know, and the fact that the make-up artists finally succeeded in making him unnattractive...that took away form the experience with the whole syphilis

Well I voted yes... I liked him. I've read quite a few history novels and if you put the time frame into what you were watching, he seemed nothing too much above the 'normal', he was just a tad more risque which made him stand out among his peers, but not over the top for the time period. I loved his dry wit and can't wait to see it again. Johnny did a brilliant job of bringing the Earl to life, man, he keeps doing these fantastic roles, maybe the roles are just ordinary and Johnny just adds the perfect touches to them to make them magic? ~SS~
