See, the way I look at it is this... If WE had our eyes gouged out, we would never be able to gaze upon our Johnny ever again. And so, my friends, I think that "NOOOOOOOOOO" is a pretty appropriate response.

Hmm...my initial reaction was one of cringing, and then I sat and watched the whole scene, and now I'm starting to think that "Hey, Sands just kinda runs with whatever life gives him. So the whole 'loosing his eyes thing' doesn't appear to be all that bad." Or at least that's my theory for my latest OUATIM fic. Oh, and I thought the blood was pretty hot too.

Well, I just watched OUaTiM for the first time today, and I must say... I could barely watch it. That device that that dude was holding TOTALLY freaked me out, and I thought that they were actually going to SHOW him getting his eyes gouged out! But thankfully, they didn't. And personally, I wasn't grossed out when his sunglasses fell off and I saw him without eyes. In fact, I noticed that he had eyelids, but they were just covered by very heavy, dark red makeup. I almost laughed at how ridiculous it was. So, I voted for "Aww, well that must have sucked...". I'm not usually the sympathetic type when I'm watching a movie, unless it's a romance movie and one of the lovers dies. THEN I'll feel really bad. And also... Didn't he say, like, "... Don't kill me", or something? I was a little bit surprised at that, because Sands didn't show weakness before that. Or maybe it was just because they drugged him.

I, too, was VERY worried that they were actually going to show the eyes being...erm...plucked from their sockets (there really is no delicate way to put that is there? ) I am very very glad they did not. ;D I didn't notice the eyelids like you did _depplove...it is quite possible I was hiding in my sweatshirt at the part. I am incredibly squeamish.

Yes, I'm squeamish, too. I was EXTREMELY disgusted at the hospital scene, where we saw the guy that had absolutely no skin on his face at all... Oh man... That was horribly sordid.

That one was hysterical too! Back on topic.... Now I am curious and I want to see the eyelids too! I must get ahold of OUATIM now. And I'll have to force myself to watch that part. *shudders*

Actually... It's on TV RIGHT NOW. ;D I'm only half-watching it, though. I've officially decided on Zoolander instead (BEN STILLER = LOVE!!!). Man, I LOVE this movie. But yes... And you can almost see his eyelashes, if you look really closely! And if you look really closely, just remember... You're looking closely to see his real eyelids and eyelashes, NOT looking closely to see that he has no eyes. That'll probably help you to be less squeamish at that part, mmhmm.

Nope, Sands never said 'Don't kill me.' I think the line you mean is 'Look me in the eyes... and then kill me.' If it's not, do correct me, but I don't remember SJ ever saying 'Don't kill me.' There was the whole thing when he was stalling Barillo, 'If you kill me, you'll have every single Marine from here to Guantanamo Bay up your kiester, Mister, so just know that.' No idea if I'm any closer, but that's the best I could do without the movie on hand. If you look close on a bunch of the scenes (I notice it the most when he's in the taxi) you can see his eyes behind the shades. Softens the blow a bit. ("Vision Correction Surgery" ad. )

The featurettes on the DVD are really very good for people who want to see how the majority of the stuff (special effects, filming and so forth) they did was accomplished. RR did a fine job with those. Nothing specifically about the eyes, but they're mentioned quite a few times throught. ("Tired eyes, new and old for sale." These things are really quite amusing...)

But yes, those ads on the upper banner are quite funny, aren't they? ;D
