Hey there! I went into work this morning (I work in a pet shop) and said hello to my hamster kids as usual when my attention was drawn to something out of the ordinary in the bottom cage. I looked a little closer and discovered that one of my hamster girls has given birth to approximately ten tiny pink babies! ;D The mum hamster is doing really well and she's made a nice snuggly nest for her babies, I just hope all of them survive because she's had a big litter. There's another female and we think she might be pregnant as well so I'm keeping an eye on her too. If anyone's interested I shall keep you informed on their progress. Just thought I'd release my joy at becoming a hamster mummy! ;D

Aww... that's adorable!! I'll be praying for them to turn out to be strong and healthy hamsters. So cute!! What breed are they? I had some dwarf ones several years ago... but we mostly raised gerbils..... now I'm into the LARGE animals.... horses, ponies, cows, goats... etc........ good thing I live on a farm eh? ;D

I'll be sure to keep you informed of their little lives. ;D Roo, they are golden hamsters (also called Syrian hamsters)...breed name, not colour. Their parents are both brown with odd white patches so they'll probably turn out that way too but we won't know for a little while because they are completely pink and hairless at the moment So glad other people are interested! Piercing chick: yes, three years is a long time for a hamster to live but I've heard of them living longer. I do hope yours is ok!

I would love to post pics but I don't have a digital camera...my dad does, maybe I should "borrow without permission" I won't be able to take photos until they're a wee bit older though, if they're disturbed too soon the mum will attack them and I definitely don't want that!

That's not messed up! I used to do that too when we used to look after the school gerbils ;D And when I got a hamster she used to live in my pocket in the evenings...she was a right sweetheart.

Aw, it breaks my heart when my pets pass away. And hamsters have such short little lives. Do you think you'll get another one HF? New life is amazing, I agree
